looks awesome, how does the car hold up to the weather?

At some stage I will end up moving to finland and would love to do this in the garden as a man retreat in addition to the a man cave, just not sure of the weather situation out there.
Thanks. Chevy is off the road at the min as gearbox is fubar. It's holding up alright, needs a few bits of body work doing but nothing major.

The bar is a nice place to go in the middle of winter with a hot drink in a warm coat so not just weather dependant.

More progress. Needed a unit for the bar to be the bar itself so I wanted to put something together that looked like it had been made of bits of driftwood or whatever was lying around, which it was. Used some more of the door for the top. Also finished lining the inside of the shed too with more doors. That makes it all pretty much done with the exception of the electrics, so need to get those finished off.

awesome place you have there! the inside of the house looks like it could be right out the 60's and 70's, but in a good way haha!
cant be too far from me either, i live near grangemouth and i noticed on your flickr you aint far from stirling! some bit of land you have out the back of your house too!
how did you hear about young ross and his pinstriping? i guess with the chevvy and the liking for old vehicles, he's kinda got himself a good name in and around the scene! i know ross and jaye from the volkswagen scene!
Thanks for the kind words. Yep not too far away. When I moved up I was having trouble finding out what was going on with Hot Rods/Yanks so set up a facebook group, Kustom Kulture Scotland. I think I met Ross through there, he is going to do some work on my Plymouth Van this weekend. His stepdad Jerry over at Deadline Paint and Body has flaked the roof on the Chevy too. I come from a VW background myself so love aircooled stuff. Some awesome cars coming out of Tillicoutry.

Very excited about this weekend's planned activity. Last weekend I prepped by digging trenches and fixing posts into the garden and mounting lights on the bar, this weekend the electrician is coming to connect it all up. The bar and wood will all be lit up smile

Love it, not following trend and doing it your own way. Very refreshing to see.
Thanks very much.

Lighting is taking longer than I thought due to the weather and availability of the electrician. Will update when it up and running.

This is such a unique and cool build, I love the interior style!

And that garden looks fantastic - something like that would sell a house to me, exactly what I'm after.

How far back does it go / what does it back onto, if you don't mind me asking?

How you mentioned above moving north of the border, and another recent thread about relocating to Scotland has my interest peaked at the moment smile
Cheers. The whole plot is about an acre. There is nothing behind at all, it was thick woodland when we moved in but was cut down a week later, some of it has been replanted. There is planning in submission to build a mountain bike track there (as a sweetner for house building elsewhere) but I don't think it will be approved.

I never got round to putting up pics of the lighting done, it only got finished just before Christmas. Looking magical in the snow tonight around the bar...

Nick, I saw a pic a while back of your egg shaped toilet on Tumblr! (from a link on here IIRC) So had to read this thread! biggrin

Like many, not really my style (though I like the bathroom)

May I ask where are these display/storage units from?
Yes IKEA, Besta, but I think they have changed the design now.

Thanks everyone biggrin It's amazing how much light the lighting gels sap out, it's so much brighter when they are all white but the colours make it more interesting.

Got another garden project on the go. An out door kitchen for smoking meat/bbqing in all weathers, The Smoke Shack

This is where it is going...

Tiki Bar by Nick Grant, on Flickr

Never seen these before bit come in really handy...

Tiki Bar by Nick Grant, on Flickr

When the weather prevented progress I hand painted a sign for the Shack using some old licence plates...

Main frame done.

At this point I managed to get 200 8ft scaffold boards for £500 delivered, these are for a few projects I have on the go...

Smoke Shack by Nick Grant, on Flickr

Had to carry them all round the back of the house though and unfortunately I've given myself tennis elbow as a result so progress on the rest has been slow.

Another sign hand painted...

Danish oil going on the floor really brings out the wood...

Can I ask where you got the scaffold boards, was this a one off deal or are they readily available for that price?

Loving your work by the way!!
Thanks dude. Scaffold boards came from a place in Dundee that are replacing all theirs with metal ones. It took some persuading to get them to deliver 40 miles to me.

Pressure washed the lot, when it's dried out roof felt to go on then varnish the lot. Wishing it was finished today, trying to smoke a brisket in the rain.
