to keep the thread updated, an independant engineers report has just been completed and has condemned the door and the installation (and product).
Still waiting on court decision on whether I have a contract with an individual or a ltd company due to the guy now claiming that his company is limited... which is the first I heard of that as its not mentioned on any of his brochures/paperwork or receipts etc.
The report will be very useful in court however and it has also been sent to trading standards who may take the matter further if the guy dealing with the case can be arsed..

Hi,
I just noticed my door doing exactly the same thing a couple of days ago, it's just under a year old made I think by Warmprotection.
I have rung the installer who was "mystified" "Never had that before mate" and I am waiting for him to make an appearance, suck in through his teeth stand in front of it and say "Never had that before mate" again!
I would be very grateful for any further updates on how your problem is going please.
Reading through I am not clear on whether the manufacturer of your door actually agreed on the exact cause of the problem.
My first thought was that being a wide door (9ft) perhaps the weight of the door when rolled up (perhaps too tightly) was causing it, mine is about 5 slats at waist hight.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Best wishes

thats rather worrying as the replacement door we went for was a Warm protection door...are you positive the entire door ewas manufactured/supplied by warm protection - who was your supplier/installer - email me who it was if you want,

this is how the door looks now (looks better in the pictures than it is in reality), approximately 18 months old, gets worse each week..

I ended up having a full independent engineers report written up on the door.
From memory -
His thoughts were varying degrees of thermal expansion and contraction caused by inconsistent foam filling through the slats and also that the door was possibly incorrectly adjusted from day one putting excess pressure downward on all of the slats. He also notedthat the slats did nt really slot together very well which was another possibly cause due to poor rolling and excess movement due to the width etc.
The manufacturer has never ever replied to any emails regarding the issue and as far as I am aware are denying that they manufactured the door... as it was bought through a third party installer with an account with them who only used their roller curtain... the main faulty part!

well, we are at oppsite ends of the country,so not the same installer.
The Warm Protection factory isnt that far from me...I will be interested to hear how this works out for you as although I have ordered my door (its still being held in their factory for me as far as I am aware..) I havent paid for anything yet so would be asking for a further guarantee of this not happening to me again

Well the installer turned up today and agreed it was faulty, took photos and said he would contact the supplier. His opinion was that perhaps there is a fault with the foam insulation infill, which is my guess too. I think perhaps the foam has air pockets and as a result the slat expands unevenly, hey-ho! We will see how it goes.

thats the exact same conclusion that was arrived at regarding my door.... I wait with interest to see how Warm protection handle this....

any update on this?
I am now being asked when they can fit the new warm protection door...
and after all this hassle I am determined not to throw away a further 3.5k-4k and have the same issues..

you couldnt make it up...

this was all sorted in small claims court just over 6 months ago.
finally got a partial refund and agreed to split the court costs.
The old supplier stated in court that he had no use for the door as it was so badly damaged whilst attempting to get a lower settlement figure then when we agreed a settlement I agreed to split the court costs as I was keeping the door to allow me to have my new door fitted at my convenience there was no mention of him getting the door back.....

Today just over 6 months later I get a text from him asking when he can pick up HIS door...
pretty sure its a wind up , but have just told him to take me to court this time as the door is gone.
