Absolutely loving all the properties posted in this thread. We started in a one bedroomed flat in Harrow 25yrs ago and after a couple more moves, moved to Cumbria in August, last year. We're working on the interior for now, but hopefully this will be our penultimate home. We're surrounded by sheep and baby lambs, with a red squirrel showing himself daily.
It looks lovely - much land with it? What sort of age is the house? How's that driveway in snow/ice?
Thanks very much. We have 3 acres with it. The previous owners bought it as a 300yr old farmhouse with the intention of renovating/restoring. However, it was too far gone and was condemned. They rebuilt it 20yrs ago using all original stone and as much timber as could be salvaged. We now have the pleasure of having a modern spec with regards to insulation etc. We just have to make it work for our needs. It's an upside down house to take advantage of the views. As mentioned earlier, we only moved here in August last year, and as we had a mild winter, we don't know how difficult the driveway will be in the snow. Between us we have 3 BMW's including the X3 we bought when we got here, and promptly put winter tyres on.
biggrin

lots of nice houses on this post, something to be jealous of and aspire to own.

It does show an interesting demographic of PH posters though. If there was a poll I reckon I'd be in the bottom 10% of earners it seems.

Me too. I don't think it would be possible for me to get to a level in my company where I could afford a house like some on here. My only route would be to start a business and make it work which is not easy in the slightest!

Not really. The vast majority of people live in 'normal' houses. And it stands to reason that if you live in a council flat or a Barratt box you'll be less inclined to show it off than some of those on here.

That's not to take anything away from those who do btw. Some very nice pads.

I do question security though. It's not uncommon for streets or houses to be recognised. Some will have expensive cars posted in other threads... others might make controversial posts... the internet is full of weirdos...you can see where I'm going. Not for me.

Which is a shame because my place is MASSIVE!

Does it matter?

There are many many millionaires on this forum, many of which have posted in this thread.

Some of the most impressive things on here probably cost relative peanuts because of their locations. I don't get why people are surprised that a forum for people that like cars - you know, the second most expensive thing after your house - have fairly decent houses in the main.

We bought this one year ago. It's taking a lot of work (probably more than we bargained for!) but is absolutely worth it. The photos are from the agent when we bought it, I'll have to take some more.

Nor he or I are surprised. It is an observation, and last time I checked, it wasn't illegal to make them. There is definitely a divide.

what's on the lower level? surely windows would be a nice addition, even if the view isn't as good from lower down, it'd let light in!. lovely place though

Thank you, on the lower level it's a twin car garage, I would be able to fit a third car inside if it was not for the stairs so I keep my bikes there. I have never thought about windows to be honest.

Being “into cars” or being a petrolhead does not instantly correlate with wealth.

For every millionaire on PH, there’s a load more PH’ers who don’t have that kind of wealth or large properties, yet are still properly into cars.
