It was a little under £40 per sq.m, it's Kahrs Artisan Oak Rye.
Cheers.

Some lovely places on this thread smile

OH and I sold both our houses and bought this place about 3 years ago:

I always dreamed of living in the middle of a field, and now I do smile Well, several fields.

Only trouble is, I have to spend half the week away from home to pay the bills frown

I am now in and it is still a work in progress, it's not really worth a thread as I think my expenditure to date, including purchase price and most of the furniture, is less than most ph'ers spend on their kitchens. I will put up a few before/current shots when I sort them out
Don't be so sure, we've just got a kitchen off eBay for £1700. biggrin

Lovely, that.

Are the ancillary buildings studio/man cave/workshops, or are you doing holiday lets?

That, for me, is my ideal place. I too want to live in the middle of a field (or three).

Which part of the country is that? It's lovely.

Thanks.

They will be holiday lets, at some point, hopefully.

We thought we'd be up and running in three months. Three years later..... OH has the right idea, he stays at home and sends the missus out to work!

Thank you. We are lucky, I know. 10 acres to exercise the dogs in too.

It's south west Wales; Carmarthenshire/Pembrokeshire/Ceredigion border.

Red!! It was the colour the builders painted it and it's only a year old so we are living with it for now.

Oh, and an earthquake shelter, you know, just in case.

Not quite - new place has a Rayburn which does cooking and heating. I was originally quite excited about it, but turns out it's rubbish at both cooking and heating.... yet still manages to cost a small fortune to run. Fortunately there's also a 'proper' oven and hob in the kitchen as well!
Have you had it serviced?

We have an oil fired Rayburn in our house that runs all our heating, cooking and hot water. Apart from it being extremely temperamental 3 or 4 years ago and breaking down whenever the seasons clicked over to winter, it is no more expensive to run than gas and electricity heating, cooking & hot water.

I refreshed the baffles, blast tubes, photo sensors, fuel pump and solenoids when it was being temperamental, I service it every autumn and it has been super reliable and pretty economical to run (plus, you can't beat a roast cooked in a Rayburn / Aga lick )
Yes, we've had it serviced and health-checked (although not as comprehensively as you by the sounds of things). I mean, it works OK, but the central heating system is exhibiting signs of previous bodgery and some of the rads don't get very hot compared to others. Weirdly, someone has also disabled all of the individual radiator thermostat switches, so either they're all on or all off. scratchchin

Either way, I miss having the 'ever present' heat of the Aga. Our kitchen is in the converted cellar and so is ~70% underground. It's not as troglodytic as it sounds and it keeps a very stable temperature all year round, but it's not as cosy as we'd like.

Agreed. Expenditure is pretty irrelevant IMHO yes

Look forward to the updates smile

Very nice, one of my dreams too. Looks like Pembrokshire/judging by your profile? My wife is from there and that's where one day we would like to buy something just like that. However as you've kind of alluded to there are no jobs out that way frown

Bought this place three months ago...going to live in it for a year before doing a total refurb. Most of the next year will be doing things in the garden which hasn't been properly looked after for a long time.

Thank you, it has been a full time job to get it habitable smile it is quite rewarding to finally see some results instead of diggers and workmen.

Thanks that's the long term plan. For the next year we have to battle with plumbing, heating and electrics that are well past their sell by date and a garden that needs a load of work.
