What does your house look like?

Thanks that's the long term plan. For the next year we have to battle with plumbing, heating and electrics that are well past their sell by date and a garden that needs a load of work. We are undertaking a similar modernisation and unpicking lots of lovely surprises, rising damp and tanking most of ground floor, complete new drainage outside to remove the 'lake' we sit on, roof, chimneys, plumbing (no rads in 1/2 house), bathrooms (vile with no pressure), boiler, re-wire (everything blows), new sash windows (some could be pushed open so rotten), as well as fencing for our 3 dogs and a garage simultaneously! - its very stressful and pretty challenging - especially as you don't see any 'wow' factor with most of those things. Good luck it will be a fantastic place, it looks like it has some mature plants and shrubs too which is always good 'head start' in a garden. .
I may well do a build thread if people are interested but it's a good year away!
The central block of the house is the original bit...not quite sure how old it is 1900 or maybe older but there's been a house on the site for a long time. First thing to do is put the front door back in the middle at the front. The wing to the left is probably 1930's but matches the main bit pretty well. The bit to the right is a 70's garage block which is pretty hideous and the garages are in totally the wrong place. The photo from the back where you can see the garage doors shows you what was a 17th century barn but it's been really messed around and the house was actually de-listed 15 years ago.
Internal layout is a total mess especially downstairs...start again job!

Soon to be my new pad, cannot wait! Currently going through the pain of selling and buying, but hope to be in September at some point. Although survey has just shown a crack in one of the walls near an extension at the back, so need to get that investigated first.
Nowhere near some of the incredible places on this thread, but it'll be our 10-15 year place. 4/5 bed (one in converted loft, but no fixed staircase so can't call it a bedroom!), South facing etc etc. will be putting a decent sized garage in at some point.

2 years of building work? Any more details?
The first 10 months or so were spent drawing up plans for the extensive changes that were either necessary (lovely Edwardian house but was very tired and somewhat strangely laid out, including an ugly coach house we wanted to demolish and partially replace attached to the side of the main house) or desired (basement with pool etc under the garden on the other side of the house as you look at the picture) and then getting planning permission and selecting builders etc. Work started about 13 months ago and was scheduled to finish in mid December this year but will likely overrun by a couple of months i'd guess. Is that in London? That is a proper house! Lovely.
Post up pics of the underground pool when you are done!!
Thanks! It's in NW London. I will post up some pics when it's finally finished. Post up pics of the underground pool when you are done!!
Gingerbread Man, I did think about doing a build thread but I quickly figured I didn't have the patience or stamina to keep it updated over such a depressingly lengthy build. As above though, I'll post a few pics when we move in.
Some stunning properties on this thread, very jealous!
Here's mine, I was living in a 1 bed flat for 9 years mainly due to laziness and quite a lot to do with working permanent nights and the main love of my life being a poxy car! I moved into my first house last Friday 14th as I didn't fancy living in the flat for another 9 years.
I still can't quite believe that I got this on my own, it's not as magnificent as some, but I'm really happy with it and I still can't stop smiling
It needs a bit of work and a good refresh but I'm happy to plod along and work my way through it.
Man cave!
And I've managed to keep the toy
