Looks very nice - and almost as if you're really on your deck, but looking at the back of someone else's house.

Why thank you very much, we are rather chuffed with it smile

Un/fortunately it isn't in the south, more about as far north as you can get in England. It's a small town just east of Carlisle and although it represents a huge chunk of real estate for us, I won't piss you off by telling you what we paid for it. The north has its benefits, not least the fact that the norther side of the hartside pass begins right by us driving

I've yet to get a decent photo of the whole house as we're surrounded by mature trees, so unfortunately I can't really show you more.
Looks lovely! Ahh, i see! I'd probably cry if i knew what the price was so i thank you for not posting it! Being surrounded by Mature Trees is no bad thing!

Luke.

Old schoolhouse?
Yep - the house at the front is ours - old school masters house, then the old school itself is the bit to the right - overlaps ours by about 3ft. Always wondered why though; maybe a doorway to the school when first built?

Found out from a neighbour the other day its raised from the road (about 6ft up) because the remains of the original 1800 school house is under the front lawn.

Excuse the cars out front

Been here for 17 years now, extension on the side for about 10. There used to be a single attached garage to the side with a flat roofed 'sunroom' to the rear. This was all knocked down to leave a huge space for the extension (the extension is actually bigger than the original 'semi'). I widened the build by 4 feet over the original width and maybe should have gone a bit further, but at least I can fit two cars in the garage!

Bought this place three months ago...going to live in it for a year before doing a total refurb. Most of the next year will be doing things in the garden which hasn't been properly looked after for a long time.

You win!

How come you haven't had the kerb dropped? Would drive me made bumping up and down that every day.

Council wanted nearly £2k to do it and they wouldn't let me or another contractor do it. I *might* have to drop some concrete there . . .

Thanks! But you haven't seen the inside....

Last time anything was done to it was early 80's. Keeping fingers crossed the plumbing/heating etc last the year...

We moved into our new home in May of this year after a long time looking for the right one. It's needed some work but not as much as expected. Plenty of garage space and parking was high on the list; two doubles, one with an existing four post ramp ticked that box.

Across the orchard and paddock last Saturday morning

The important bit

The parking, just as important

Sorry to be "that guy" but it's an offence to drive across a footway with a raised kerb. And if your car overhangs then it is technically obstructing the footway. If you've spent tens of thousands on the extension then why not spend 2k getting a proper access put in and making it official? There's nothing stopping someone parking across the front of your house with the current arrangement...

Thankyou. beer

At the moment it suits me well. Having no neighbours as such is great, I can make all the noise I want within reason and not annoy anyone.

Thanks Will!

May consult the neighbours - it is a semi, so want to make it look nice and in keeping, rather than completely different...
