Water leaking through window lintel
Discussion
Like a couple of others it seems I have a leak due to this driving heavy rain. Its dripping through where a blind has been drilled and attached to the lintel/reveal. Its been there for a year and never had a problem until today. From what I can see on the outside the lead sheet laid above the uPVC window has sagged flapped down somewhat and there is now a bead of water sat in there. I can only guess its coming in through there. The house is poured concrete cavity wall construction. What is the best course of action to seal the lead back on if that is the problem?
Thanks

I doubt it makes much difference. IIRC some set in damp conditions; that might be the decider.
It happened to me once. There was a gale and rain bashing on an upstairs window which I'd left open a few inches. Water was pouring in. I quickly closed the window and... water was still pouring down the inside of the glass Took a moment to figure it out!

I share your pain OP. Been up since 2am dealing with this.
Still, it's one way to get the bloomin stubborn wood chip off the kitchen wall.
I was going to go to B&Q later to get some exterior sealant but my concern would be that I'm trapping water in the wall before it's had a chance to dry out. Any builders care to suggest the best course of action?

Make sure you don't fill any drainage/weep holes on the exterior wall.
What am I looking for? Holes in the pointing?Mr GrimNasty said:
You might also have created a leak in any cavity lintel/dpm/cavity tray arrangement with your fixings for the blind, might only have showed up now with the extreme weather.
They were there when we bought the house. Previous owners never coughed up the FENSA certificate for the double glazing, glad we witheld some funds now.Sowler said:

And just to add to this
My ridge tile pointing had gone, letting water in that was tracking down the felt, and then reaching the holes adjacent to the wall (where the felt had broken down)
The point is there can often be more than one point of failure, and the source of the problem not always where the water is turning up.
