This place isn't bad....for a new build :-0.

What kind of jobs do people do who can afford places like this !

It's a very old new build and the kind of job clearly doesn't exist because no buyer has bought it in the years it's been for sale. smile

Yep. Just yep to everything there.
Quite. cloud9

The White House with the Zonda in the garage (when the pics were taken) is on my commute. It's got a lovely outlook, good road links, and reasonable rail / air links. (Not counting the helipad.) Apparently it is owned by the chap who owns a local chain of Poundland style shops who is in the process of a divorce.

I like the setting, but the interior just doesn't feel like it could be made homely. Not that I need to worry, as it was on for £8m last time. I would have though £5m would get you in, but I still wouldn't.

That is a good question.

When I drive around the nice parts of towns the houses are often the sort which 20 or 30 years ago would've been owned by the local Bank Manager, Headmaster or perhaps GP.

Family homes that someone who had done well could aspire to and achieve, bring up their family and stay until their demise.

In many towns in the South east now those houses (4 bed detached, nice garden) are well in excess of £1 million. They often seem to be knocked down and a new build is put up with a price tag of £2 million plus.

There are loads of them so there must be loads of buyers but I can't imagine it's the type who used to reside there.

More accurately they are knocked down and replaced by 3 or 4 new builds or a block of upmarket apartments for £1 million each. Developers no longer build nice 4 bed detached houses with a some frontage and nice garden. mad It's the slums of the future.

They did a couple of the houses on Grand Designs a good few years ago, and they're relatively local to us. When we get the required £3m or so to do something on that scale, they're doing it. No hesitation.

Interesting.....In which case, how can a developer afford to sit on such a plot for so many years ..... !
