I think a quick streetview look will tell you why. Very carefully angled photos...
That would have zero effect.
London truly is it's own market, then.

I think it is overpriced at the moment for the area (not much above £5m nearby for sale), but if it had sold for the £6.8m bid just imagine how much it will be when it's developed, upwards from £10m probably and more if they dig out a lower ground floor. I think the price reflects what can be done with it, but I think when developed it would take a long time to sell, which is perhaps why it didn't go much higher.

Ps I see also - "The cottage was purchased by Laurence Olivier in 1937 for himself and Vivienne Leigh and remained their London base until 1956."

Someone at the auction house needs to be fired for not marketing it to the right foreign bidders.

Surely everything has an effect on the value. The street it's on can't have no effect.

It's prime Chelsea, the street will only add even more to the price.

If done up Im guessing it would be worth 10-12 million all day long, especially with its history.

That Howsham Hall was on the market back in 2011, I can't remember the price back then but it was certainly the same ballpark.

That must be costing after five years, maybe the curse is putting people off. Done by the bloke who ran Fantazia.

The local council rejected planning permission last year to split it up to help get people living in it, despite being approved by all the neighbours who don't want it left empty.
