i would need to play the lottery to ever manage this, but this would be my purchase given a large windfall of money!

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

included in the sale is;

a 38 bedroom castle (albeit with some very "tastefully" decorated sitting rooms)

a couple sports halls, tennis courts, curling rink and swimming pools
a hydro sub station
various other houses (around 18 other cottages and houses and a few dormitories)
various educational facilities
a chapel & old stables
large buildings, machine stores, wood work store, a dairy, boat sheds
a shooting range, golf course and army assault course
and a shed for tractors and some garages....

basically its a whole town and enough to keep any man occupied for a good amount of time!

Nice development Chris.

I would say prices are fairly reasonsable considering the location.

most of its sold, few left. £12m is pocket change compared to some of the units that have gone.

im biased obviously, but i think its one of the best, if not the best development site in London at the moment. NW8 postcode, 3 sides of park and views over london. Fully gated, private pool gym spa, concierge, parking etc etc etc

What do you chaps think of this? I rather like its "Arts & Crafts" style even if not a Lutyens wink Triple garage, 6.5 acres, floor to ceiling windows, decent sized rooms, plenty of bedrooms for when the family stay and I love the way they point out that the WC on the top floor has got Sky hehe

I love this part of Dorset and don't need anything too big. For the price of a 60s 3 bed detached where I live now I could get this:

that's a great bolt hole from London....
Lovely!

But I would not want anything listed. Just too much hassle when doing work.

It doesnt seem very good value compared to a large detached house on the Elsworthy Estate though! Some on Elsworthy Road have access to the hill.

Do people spending that much on a flat really use a communal pool?

It's a nice enough house but at that money in Reading I don't think it'll shift.

The agent has put that on at a very speculative figure.

Elsworthy Road porn: £2500psf
http://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/29310510?...

I personally would rather the house above, but its not apples for apples.

These people are cash rich and time poor, and may only stay in their apartment (max!) 2 or 3 weeks a year. They dont want the hassel of knowing the roof is leaking, the boiler isnt working, someone has broken in, mail is piling up, the car battery has run down. etc etc etc. They want new build lock up and leave,

The other lot are people who live in the area already and want to trade up to something nice and new with lots of toys.

the pool, er, might get used once in a while. looks nice though!

Possibly, although it's 10 miles from Reading in a small village in a pleasant area of Berkshire countryside between Maidenhead, Bracknell and Reading. Still I don't have the £3m so it's incidental!

Unless they have managed to get so rich that they can afford immortality they are completely mental if they don't just cash it all in, stop being time-poor and use their multi millions to enjoy the rest of their lives rather than working themselves to death pursuing multi billions banghead

Nope. Used to be Rannoch School. Small public school founded along Gordonstoun lines. Folded around 10 years ago.

About five years ago an unknown, secretive Cornishman bought it with the plan of turning it into a billionaires' retreat. I think it was dubbed the Monaco of the Glen! Planning was refused though. What a place for the money.

Yeah as said it was an old school, private I guess. If you read the brochure on the site it gives some old history and some more nice pictures too smile
Forgot to mention you also get half of the loch it sits in aswell! Northern Scotland (or all of scotland really) does have some incredible land and houses for sale for such a small fee considering the price of some of the places in this thread!
You really could run a decent small business from there and give all your workforce a house each with plenty activity days on all the things you get!
