Drove past this yesterday. With that big oak in the front garden, and the way the driveway and house are elevated up from road level it really does look mightily impressive.

Must be joking.

I think they call that testing the market. It'll presumably go for a substantial discount. There are 6 or 8 fairly new build absolutely enormous houses on Winnington. Quite who is buying them is beyond me - but that is fairly ballpark. £15-20m for around 20,000 sq feet - but people must be as several are occupied. Mahoosive underground garages under most.

Jack Vettriano's place - Looks ancient, actually cobbled together in the 40s and 50s. That's how to do 'mock'.

Is it, strangely I'd have expected it to be full of artwork and stuff like most artist's places are.

Rutland is very expensive, not quite sure why, here is a £3.5m building plot:

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

For somebody looking at working from home, with a couple of trips to London a week, for example, it's more practical then you might think. 10 minute drive to Oakham, ~20 minute train to Peterborough, then direct to Kings Cross in 50 minutes.

ETA: Just been doing some more poking around and found this:

I just love how stupid estate agents think people are, do they really think that when people turn up to view this, quote, "truely unique spectacularly positioned" grade II listed house, they won't notice what makes it spectacularly position is being right on top on the A16, semi detatched and the field opposite has planning permission to be quarried...

The late Jimi Heselden's place is still up for sale. The garage is amazing and it even has a miniature railway in the grounds.

This place now on the market thought I recognised it as it was all the over the BBC a few years ago when they knocked down the front wall as part of £100million drugs ring, must be being sold under proceeds of crime.

It's a shame the bulldozer stopped with the front wall. hehe

(Could be a nice house though)

I love the original 70's style seats in the cinema room. Not very comfy though.

Nice but has a strange garden, all the terraces make it look rather like the house has been constructed at the foot of a dammed up stream, and I wonder what that odd rock pool is? Most odd.
