Grand Designs Castle is back up for sale

Wasn't that the one that was owned (when on the show at least) but a partner from my old place? (CW..)
Cant remember mate but they were both working in London
To me it seems quite sad in some regards as IIRC it was meant to be a 'forever house' so that's someone's dreams flushed away frown he was a local lad who'd done well for himself in the City and seemed quite pleasant... she had also worked up there but (as presented on GD) seemed shal we just go with "not so pleasant"?

All that aside I quite like it and had I the funds would be happy to explore the possibilities - that being said that pretty much sums up my thoughts about a lot of the places on here. Funnily enough though IMO one of the nicest ones was a cheap (relative to this thread) converted water-mill in Kent for £3/4 mil - from distant memory it ticked just about every box... need to see more like that rather than just a £25 mil box

Indeed. All I can think about is sitting in the garden and hearing the M25. I did grow up in Norfolk though where you are only really disturbed by chirping of the birds.

This is just the other side of the river from me and it is quite nice. Just over an acre of land too which, for round Frankfurt, is a lot.

Looks like the sort of thing _Leg_ is building on the spare plot of land behind his house on the "New Garage Build" thread laugh

Here is it Oaklands Park occupies an exclusive position in one of the most sought after and superbly accessible locations outside London.

Not the nicest of interiors so add a few million to bringing it up to standard

Thanks. Agreed on the interior, dull as dull can be.

Looks like a miniature version of Ceausescu's palace. Hope the land is worth that price, because that needs knocking down IMHO.

The neighbour's place looks much nicer.

Another estate, that of the late Felix Dennis, has just gone on the market. Does not include any of his Heart of England Forest.

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/new-homes-for-sale/prop... - some lovely woodwork, and plenty of tasteful and not so tasteful areas within the numerous properties. Brilliant.

A fantastic collection as would be expected from him, the pool room is, err, well... wow.
Indeed - the pool room is in the more recently constructed house, I believe. Amazing for parties I imagine.

The inlaid wood in the kitchen in the main house (pic 5) is lovely. It's a ridiculous extravagance but then he could be extravagant.

This is pretty. 750 acres, a couple of lochs, an island, several houses, some cottages, walled gardens, lots of outbuildings, a pier and plenty of water frontage. Main house isn't palatial, but nicely manageable once updated. Cracking lifestyle move.
