There's another derelict house further up Avenue Road on the corner of Elsworthy Road....been empty for at least ten years. It's a weird road Avenue Road....has a few amabassadors, some ludicrously OTT houses (it had two 20,000 sq ft which a developer were trying to flog for $100mil a couple of years ago) and derelict houses.
Saudi owned and deserted houses on Bishops Avenue - http://www.theguardian.com/business/gallery/2014/j...

They probably own other houses in the area in similar states of disrepair.

My friend who lives opposite on Ormonde was saying that they have super-eco credentials in terms of power etc, is that right?

Is that the house that permanently has a police minivan parked outside? I've always wondered why given its deserted, but I assume it's because of the local VIP population rather than that specific house.
Yes. That police van is for the Israeli Ambassador that lives a couple of house north on Avenue Road. Red police cars are Diplomatic Protection. It's supposed to be a Russian that owns the derelict place.

the same diplomatic protection cars that have a habit of throwing open the gates and pulling out into/accross the road without worrying about the traffic.

Was on here a while ago. The interior is stunning.

Believe it was a registry office - someone mentioned they got married there last time it was posted.

Great views, but the PCH is outside your front door, and it's really effing busy! There are more secluded, private roads, in Malibu.

bowtie (and it ain't small!)

Nearly sold recently but the deal fell through because the Local Council Planning Fannies stipulated that none of the internal features or layout could be changed. Bloke wanted to dig down and put a pool in. Must have been from St Londonsberg.. hehe

Much as I love a lot of what is for sale up there, anyone that spends more than the cost of a happy meal on property in the People's Republic of Scotland right now needs a jacket that fastens at the back.

Yererse! nono

Life will go on as normal (it's pretty good really) and there's no way Sturgeon et al will be allowed to fleece those of us with ambition for any length of time. You lot have been well and truly scaremongered. Is that even a word?? hehe

wink

Besides wasn't it just a protest vote to get Labour and the Liberals out of the Scotland handing the election to the Conservatove party who they adore north of the border. Then when they ask for another referendum (which they will continue to do so until they get the decision they want) the people will say no again.

I still wouldn't move there. smile

I had this lined up, just in case - http://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/36557434?...

I would never dream of moving to Scotland simply to land a better property. It's cold, wet and full of dour miserable people who just don't like the English. If I was to move north I'd far rather go to Sweden where it's also cold but the natives are friendly and being English is not seen as a reason for hatred. laugh

Think you might be mistaken there for coldness ins Sweden, its close to Finland and I can confirm that at Pori its got an average temp of 72 degrees F (22 degrees C) in summer.

https://weatherspark.com/averages/28686/Pori-Turku...

It also has lots of snow in winter so its good, if not a little strange that it can be -30 degrees C in winter and +35 degrees C in summer.

No, I'm not mistaken, I've been to Sweden hundreds of times at all times of the year. It was meant vaguely flippantly but I intentionally said it's 'also' cold not 'as' cold. wink

Sweden in the summer is awesome, I can't wait to actually live there permanently. Gothenburg in the winter is freezing though and the wind blows right through me leaving me perma-chilled which means the heated seats never get turned off! I'm half Scottish and would pick Sweden over Scotland smile
