Bad prawn that could have been so much better - http://www.jackson-stops.co.uk/cgi-bin/properties/...

Double garage, that isn't, and isn't even a single garage for a car.
Big glass feature wall that has no opening doors along it for the summer.
Entrance hall that looks more like a public convenience or a 1970s shopping centre. Mosaic tiled walls have never been "in".

£2m last year, dropped to £1.75m now.

Frome House looks like it could be nice but it also looks like it's got half a wing missing. confused

Very very special - Duntisbourne House.

Not so large or grand that it can't be a family home.

70 acres with not a single Public Footpath running through.

Not pretentious or crass like some small Cotswold estates.

Rightmove positioning suggests it's at least 15 million though.

Based on the interior shots I'd say they have managed to modernise most, if not all, of the character out of that.

Agreed, where you'd expect nice original floorboards they've fitted modern laminate flooring, where you'd expect flagstones they've put down travertine tiles. Not to my taste.

Laminate and Travertine?

Or solid oak and limestone?

May have been an orangery or an old kitchen/servants quarters wing that was too difficult to maintain.

Who knows, I'm not splitting hairs. Real or not, in my opinion, it's out of place in a lovely old character building like that.

Not entirely to my taste, but very, very, well done.

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

I would be staggered if you could buy anything equivalent needing work and finish to the same standard for the price.

I suspect if that were next door in Ilkley it would have added another 500k to the price.

Ah, just looked at the map - it's not Otley either but still a lovely area, just doesn't have the Ilkley postcode premium I suspect.

Dining hall is rather small but I guess you could take the wall out between it and the snug to make a decent sized room. Actually the lounge is rather small too.

Now this I like, very French in style but not OTT. Seems like a decent price as well only only 20 mins away:
