It really is a stunning house in the flesh.
did his misses to the interior "design" ?
Nope, can only have been Liberace, surely? Horrific!
It's houses like these that showcase why there is a need for interior designers!

Formerly owned by Vivien Leigh. It's been on the market for quite some time and has been mentioned on here before. (Which doesn't make it any less nice, of course)

What's the catch here?

Great house, 17 acres, walled garden, cute coach house, carriage circle, etc.

In Surrey.

Seems like a steal, what am I missing? On the Gatwick flightpath? Next door to a paedophile drug addict ukip voter rehab centre?

Pretty much just over the road from gatwick. If you had your tv aerial too high you would probably burst their tyres!

Just looked on gmaps. Yep, that explains it. Bloody idiot Victorians, building a place like that right by an airport. What were they thinking?

Yes but, surely in those days with the road network not being up to much it would have been a plus point. Anyway, with aid of a few decent quality earplugs, surely a bargain it would be.

Now where did I put my checkbook?

The M23 would fill in any gaps in the noise quite well in case flying had stopped, which it doesn't at Gatwick.

I remember that one on Grand Designs. It was built by an Eco-architect on a shoe string. He kept having to sell stuff to fund the next bit of the project.

Apart from the view that does nothing for me whatsoever.

The main living space looks like someone has just put some second hand furniture in a warehouse.

Agreed, even the pool doesn't exactly look like a nice place to be.

How about this one, with 148 acres you could have your own 1/4 miles strip or race track etc built .... and as for the barn, sod the horses.........

I think they did a revisit where he was able to finish because a mystery old lady gave him money out of nowhere.

I remember this too, they resorted to turning half of it into a B&B iirc.

I saw that a couple of weeks ago. Looks nice.

Shame about the motorway and Gatwick. Hmm - complain to whoever it is you complain to about race tracks about the noise and get Gatwick closed down wink
