a development of 8 or ten of these houses. on a small bit of land that was owned by a farmer who wouldn't sell for years.

not sure if this listing shows the view over london they have. i honestly dont think there is a better view of the city than from that piece of land.

(i think the houses themselves are horrible though)
£3.195 mil for a new build on what looks like the set of Brookside in the middle of a field in Stanmore!! It would need a view of the interior of the Playboy mansion to justify that price tag. ETA, not that there's anything wrong with Stanmore...just not at those kind of prices

Spend many a family holiday in this part of Wales and this would be the perfect holiday home for the family :-)

This one on Burton Hill has been on and off the market for about two years I think? Don't understand why - could be because alongside the main road so maybe the windows shake when artics drive by (complete speculation). Quite like it nonetheless. A good friend lives very very close by.

A plus about living this side of Malmes is that Waitrose is just over the roundabout!

I really like that. At 8000 plus sq. ft it's a lot of house for the money.

I wonder who lives in a house like that as the car collection is pretty spectacular, 2 Testarossas, a beautiful Corvette, E Type, Rolls Royce, what looks like an old police Rover, a Ford GT and lots more, that is one hell of a collection.

How much will it sell for?
He's a retired chap, who I think has always been involved in classic cars. He has, at some point, owned an Ayrton Senna Lotus, and a Michael Schumacher Ferrari.

House was up for £2.4m last summer.

theres a whole lot more in stanmore that make those prices seem tame.

this is the old battle of britain command centre redevelopment. what theyve built on there is criminal.

Nice but the interior needs a lot of updating.

I do love Norfolk. The first one is not too far from my parent's house and I think it has been for sale for quite a while.

The second one is lovely but for 5 mil I would want more than 4.6 acres.

I like that the estate agent helpfully points out that the Queen sometimes lives in Norfolk.

Does seem quite odd. They might as well have said that half of Chelsea decamp to North Norfolk in the summer too.

Garden is limited to the front only (from memory) right next to the road, plus the old school (I think it was) adjacent (also on the main road) is being turned in to flats. Also yet more infill between the old people's flats over the road and further away from the roundabout... In all, the specific locality is a building site for the forseeable and the garden is st for kids.

ETA, when I saw it around 18 months ago it was £975k iirc. "value" is not something you get much of in the area given limited choice/ high demand in Malm itself (& surrounds, I mean WTF is the one in Sherston doing at 860?!?!?) but you can only see a Dyson high up affording it if locally based, and its just far enough away from the office to be a bit of a pain to walk to (/lazy).

But apart from that..!

The first house has been trying to sell since 2010. Sold in '08 for around £2.5 million to a property rental company (exclusive retreats type company) and has been on and off the market since two years after.

It started at just under £4 million, dropped to £2.9, fell back to "offers over" £2.5 by 2012. It then disappeared later in that year. I guess they were waiting until after the election to relist it.
Stunning house, but much of the work they mention was done by the 2008 sellers, IIRC.
It's been mentioned in this thread when previously listed.
An absolutely stunning house and property. It would make an ideal "get away from everything and everyone" type place.

The second house up near Fakenham sold for close to its £2.75 million asking price in July 2014, yes last July!
It's being sold by an international property company who clearly don't know the local market.
I think they are just chancing it at that price to see if an international wants a place close to Kate, William and baby George.
But then if someone is willing to pay, then why not.
The house itself is unbelievably beautiful. A friend lives in a house right behind it. Even at a minor glimpse, it is awe inspiring! Having that said, it's not very PH friendly with only a couple of garages, and for the money you can buy a small estate in some parts of Norfolk.

The lack of internal pics is always a cause for concern with places this old.

Very good point! Especially a concern when there are lovely, detailed interior photos but they have missed the kitchen and bathroom.

This is the old information from Savills who sold it last year. Their information contains a few interior photos: Barsham Manor Savills
