Within five miles, 6 bedroom Georgian house, 2 bed cottage, stabling, summer house & pool. For a mil.

The wife of someone in sports has had a go at the interior but it does look like the area is rather reasonable pricewise.

Just need a skip to get rid of all the purple tat in the place and it would look alright.

All I can think of is the amount of midges/bugs at night. Never being able to open windows!

Surely there must be some kind of mosquito net you can put up when the windows are open? I hate midges ever since a cycling trip in Scotland, foul creatures, especially when you breathe them in for several miles along the canal side.

Blimey chum, you do find some crackers! Lovely.
Would be quite convenient for your line of work, I'd imagine. "Just off to play with my new toys on the plain, be back for tea!" biggrin Have you still got the place in SSM?

As for the mention of bugs, I'd put up with them - they're far less irritating than neighbours.

No modern bling here, just loads of outdoor space and a rather splendid place to rattle round inside.

That's lovely. Just some renovation / modernisation and it'd be perfect. Nice find.

Westbury's not very accessible, too far to commute to the SE easily and a bit of a slog to Bristol, in Bratton you're not very far from the LaFarge cement works and the house will also be cold for much of the year.

Having lived in a Victorian place on a body of water in a valley, the abiding memory was how much colder we were in spring and autumn than the surrounding area thanks to a large, cold thermal mass outside and the sun not hitting the house until late morning. Lovely in summer, but for 2/3 of the year we had the heating running full just to stave off the cold.

Started out at 1.5million, not much of a drop then!

Disagree strongly there. There are frequent direct trains to Paddington from Westbury, takes 1hr 20mins. I use it. It's also easy to get to/from Bristol on the train, too. Driving either route at peak times would suck, granted.

Fair point! Would make a great ice rink should there be a very cold snap, though!

Fair enough, I lived on the other side of Wilts a few years ago and at the time west Wilts was the boonies....

Does the location on a road to the army ranges detract from its value? The next village to the south-east is a bit empty these days.

One up the road from me with a bit of PH potential... External house design is a perhaps a little bit too dolls house for my taste but sure I could cope if forced hehe

Does occupy a lovely spot.

Apologies in advance that this house is not actually for sale, although everyone would sell at the right price..

Video is worth a watch.

How is that "Arts and Crafts"? Looks like somewhere Goering would live. Nice location.

Seems to be slap bang next to an industrial estate or large agro-industrial complex

The airfield might be a factor, too. Buzz, drone. Crash.

What does one do about the graveyard, which seems to be part of the site?

They're perfect neighbours, never cause any trouble.

I think people retain the right to visit graves though.
ah that's OK then just build on it. As long as you like being HAUNTED! yikes
