What do people think of apartments in stately homes? I never know what to make of them. Good opportunity to live somewhere you could never otherwise afford, or naff?

Crap layout having to go through the garage to get to the cinema room or study.http://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/37258571?...
Cool climbing frame though.

I can definitely see the appeal.http://www.theparticulars.com/home/2016/2/5/3-wyfo...
My concern would be the monthly/annual service charge, what it covered and who managed it plus was there a sink fund for the inevitable major works as they arise.
But if you can deal with that I'd imagine life there could be very pleasant.

So, while I can see the appeal, my flawed and unrepresentative survey suggests the neighbours might be a bunch of insufferable tts.

I've known 2 couples that lived in apartments like this, both were the kind of ghastly social climbers you try to avoid at parties, never failing to mention where they lived and dressing in that way that suggests they get all their sartorial advice from Hello magazine.

That, and it's fking extortionate. So, while I can see the appeal, my flawed and unrepresentative survey suggests the neighbours might be a bunch of insufferable tts.
PS - your reply made me LOL to the point my wife was asking "What's so funny!?".

Pass it a few times a year , pictures don't do the views justice , fantastic. In winter though very windswept. House doesn't look big enough for all those bedrooms.http://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/37258571?...

in an urban location it would make sense. but isn't the whole point of the countryside to have a scenic view you can enjoy without having party-wall neighbours to spoil it? sure the building itself is stunning, but [IMHO] there are far better lifestyle options nearby for the money. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

I've lived in a place with 15 foot ceilings and sometimes the warmth never got down as far as your head. Those ceilings are 20 footers if they're an inch, you'd be bloody freezing from September to May.
