Hmm...higher than normal crime area too.

You must have missed the part about the s...
Gypsys = crime, so no surprise it's higher than average.
However, a stunning house and gardens.

What do people think of apartments in stately homes? I never know what to make of them. Good opportunity to live somewhere you could never otherwise afford, or naff?

Crap layout having to go through the garage to get to the cinema room or study.

Cool climbing frame though.

I can definitely see the appeal.

My concern would be the monthly/annual service charge, what it covered and who managed it plus was there a sink fund for the inevitable major works as they arise.

But if you can deal with that I'd imagine life there could be very pleasant.

Ah, so you do. I wonder why they didnt convert the garage nearest the house into those rooms rather than the other way round.

I assumed that larger sites were the ones which the Police were afraid to police etc, that one looks quite small in the scheme of things. Not suggesting that anyone buys that house just that it might not be that bad.

No need to apologise, you've managed to describe them much more politely than I ever could.

I've known 2 couples that lived in apartments like this, both were the kind of ghastly social climbers you try to avoid at parties, never failing to mention where they lived and dressing in that way that suggests they get all their sartorial advice from Hello magazine.

So, while I can see the appeal, my flawed and unrepresentative survey suggests the neighbours might be a bunch of insufferable tts.

That, and it's fking extortionate.

PS - your reply made me LOL to the point my wife was asking "What's so funny!?".

I could never live in such a place. Sharing with family is bad enough but sharing with some stuffy Volvo driving tt would drive me nuts,

Pass it a few times a year , pictures don't do the views justice , fantastic. In winter though very windswept. House doesn't look big enough for all those bedrooms.

I think very windswept is a little economic with the truth. I live a couple of miles away, and I thought my grandmother had wind... Until I moved

in an urban location it would make sense. but isn't the whole point of the countryside to have a scenic view you can enjoy without having party-wall neighbours to spoil it? sure the building itself is stunning, but [IMHO] there are far better lifestyle options nearby for the money.

I drive a Volvo so would probably suit me quite well. I love the architecture but my main concern would be the amount of money spent on heating the ceiling.

I've lived in a place with 15 foot ceilings and sometimes the warmth never got down as far as your head. Those ceilings are 20 footers if they're an inch, you'd be bloody freezing from September to May.
