in an urban location it would make sense. but isn't the whole point of the countryside to have a scenic view you can enjoy without having party-wall neighbours to spoil it? sure the building itself is stunning, but [IMHO] there are far better lifestyle options nearby for the money.

What do people think of apartments in stately homes? I never know what to make of them. Good opportunity to live somewhere you could never otherwise afford, or naff?

I love old buildings I can't afford a Manor House and if I could, I'd only use a fraction of the rooms so I can certainly see the appeal.

However as I currently run 10 cars and have 4 kids I can see that I wouldn't fit in.

When I'm older and more sensible (say 60) I can see myself living somewhere like that.

that seems like a reasonable price for what it is - i'd live there.

The dining room looks a bit dangerous, as I'm 6'8'' tall, and the amount of water around isn't very toddler friendly. (Topical too.)

However, it is quite lovely, isn't it.

Very nice. Could do with a bit of colour on the walls and needs a bigger garage. All fixable though.
Love the fixed shower over the ensuite bath. I think I priced these and they are mega money.

Ok if you're into Victoriana but a large floor level walk in shower with a rain head is far better if you want a shower laugh

it would appear from the satellite imagery that it has a development f 10/15 houses attached to it.

that why it seems cheap?

If we're doing "part of a large pile" properties, I quite like the style of this one, not far from me:

Anyone for a water tower? This is more interesting than a lot I've found recently!

Used to be Allhallows School. Lovely place, now long since defunct. Randomly, I seem to recall they had an amazing collection of stuffed animals in some corridor.

Do like - but remarkable to have plastic garden furniture in a £1.25m house !
I've always found Swanage a PITA to get to/from, and the rest of Swanage wouldn't live up to your expectations if you owned this house, I think.

We were moving out of London, but holding on to our flat in NW6 so didn't have that much money to play with - and we ended up buying an apartment in an old Manor House. We really love it - huge rooms, and huge grounds - also set in 35 of nature reserve. It isn't like there ones pictured though really - no huge gravel drive, or 20 foot windows looking out over a terrace, but it's a lovely environment to live in. We do have children here too.

Agree with that, let's see it then!

PS - it's funny how until the age of c20, all I wanted was a nice car and any old house to live it. Now a car has slipped, somewhat, down my priority list and all I want is a nice house!

First of all - rereading my post - what a lot of missing words and proof reading mistakes. I will take some photos in a bit - everything gets out of date very quickly as we do it up - but here's an estate agent exterior shot to get an idea.

I wonder if the stables are deep enough to keep cars in.
