Lovely house. The houses on one side of that street seem a bit out of place among the other, more modern homes:

Another one round 'ere - this one is actually a bit good. Elevate yourself to gentry! What do you reckon, 20 mil? Own cricket pitch. Not sure if it includes the (former) hotel but I would guess yes as they're co-located.

I now live close to Exeter, and work on the outskirts too. I'm struggling to think who the target market is for that house. (Lovely though it is.) Inside the M25, that sort of house could be multiples of the Exeter price, but it makes sense. There just isn't that sort of money round here. (Oh sure, there are wealthy people who retire down here, the South Coast is full of them.) But that place is perfect for a wealthy family with an Au-Pair / Nanny in the "Coach House", who actually want to live near the centre of a city that you can commute in and out of by car with relative ease.

Just 20 mins away from the edge of town you have places like this:

Much more space, little in the way of neighbours, and change from the asking price to decorate it a little more modernly, hopefully without destroying all the character. Plenty of parking for your Macan, 911 and Cobra (replica?) too.

Me too, but it was more of an illustration of a more logical house for the money down here. Plenty of people re-locate from London with the intention of a different environment and lifestyle for their young family. (Me included, although with everything at about 1/10th of the scale.

I would be surprised if these people are looking for a similar house to what they left behind, and still in the city. I know we didn't look to replicate our 2 bedroom flat in Clapham.

Someones going to make a killing.
Looks like they're expecting an £185k lift out of it.

Is that not just how much it has gone up in that time. I don't know what houses go for in that area but it is not inconceivable that it is just worth that much. I know someone who rented a flat in what was a house on a TV series and I don't think the price was inflated.

Oh I'm not saying they're looking for above market value or anything, I have no idea what the area is like.
Just saying, if it sells for that, that's a nice lift...!

I used to own a house just round the corner from that. I sold in 2010. If they have gone up that much I'd be gutted, not to mention stunned!

Bawdsey Manor, Suffolk, has been used as a school but a quite spectacular Victorian mansion.

£5m + 144 acres - http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

Looking at the pictures shown I'd say it looks tired & will need a lot spending on it (an awful lot).

Crikey, that's fabulous. A piece of history.

Running costs would be utterly terrifying I suspect.
