Bawdsey Manor, Suffolk, has been used as a school but a quite spectacular Victorian mansion.

£5m + 144 acres - http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

Fantastic - best VFM of the thread so far IMO.

So many possibilities.

There is a Radar museum run by a trust on the site - wonder how that will work?

It sends out a bip, if a bop comes back they've found something, but that's not important right now.

Not the best set of EA photos ever, but one of York's significant properties I expect
It must be to someone's taste as it is already under offer
What's wrong with the photos in your opinion?

i work at a reasonable sized private school and we are looking to expand in the UK as we have already done so overseas. Its a bit further away from London that we've been looking but it does offer pretty much what we need.

we've been looking for a small place for our junior school near London for some time but most stuff round here gets dealt with off the books then pops up as "exclusive" apartment complexes before you know it.

It scarcely even in Wales, you can be across the border in about 10 mins. Big houses round that way always seem to be cheap so no catch other than the huge amount you would need to spend on it to make it liveable

I think the catch is this bit... --> striking Grade II* mansion in need of renovation

Running costs... 14,000+ square feet, Grade II* listed, minimal land included in the price (so no income from that source).

Also not much in the way of high paying jobs in the area - keeps house prices relatively low.

The 60 acres of parkland will probably add another quarter to half a million to the price (depending on the terms of the agricultural tenancy it is currently let under) and if you buy the house you probably do want the parkland.
