Back in the day, I expect this was rather good.

Location not as desirable as it was back in the day I expect, but it could be made to be very pleasant

I'll pass thanks, there must be better value for money around York?
I would expect something on the Mount or in Bishopthorpe or Askham Bryan/Richard for that money, definitely seems very expensive for Acomb. On the plus side the long drive means the plebs won't be aware of it and it doesn't appear to need much spending on it apart from decor. On the down side Waitrose is the wrong side of the city centre so you'll be stuck in the inner ring road traffic every time you go shopping.

Stunning. Not too far from Glasgow either.
They do good things around there...

That is fabulous, if I could get work up there I would buy that (after saving ...)
incredible value, even allowing for the 'offers over' add-on
Yeah, even if you add on 10% for fees etc.

Amazing place to retire too I would think, at least for a few (10) years.

Beggers belief why people spend this much on a 2 bed in London ... then again I guess it is where the work is.

Not built yet and a far smaller plot but a 17k sqft house done to your own tastes for ~£5m all in when built I reckon would be very nice - they've nailed the layout in the planning process too! (IMO of course)
Pleasing symmetry. Not really my cup of builders tea, but each to their own.

Seems our favourite magnificent white elephant is up for a 7.6m govt bunce.

Really hope it's enough to help.

£350/ft build puts it at a shade under £8m with the land. Seems a lot for 1.3 acres where it is but I dont know the area that well.

Id lose the outside pool. It would never be used.

Slightly north east of the marker - https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Groombridge,+T...

seems to be part of a private estate of similar big houses converted from estate buildings or built later, hard to tell. No signs on the single entrance road (other is blocked off)

Main house reduced in size in 1955 - http://www.lostheritage.org.uk/houses/lh_sussex_le...

Leyswood House originally looked like this.

I expect the mill mark is a bit ambitious for it, but it has a nice view and that is relatively rare in york

Not perfect by any means, but this would probably be on the lottery win shortlist for me.

Amberley Castle is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. The whole area is fantastic.

wouldnt fancy heating that over the summer months. a million quid more to do some window work and it could be a really nice venue for weddings etc. not sure it would ever be a very comfortable house year round. suprised its only grade 2 listed.

Dear God if that had been around a year ago I would have been tempted. And then broke, as that looks like a full-on moneypit.

I suspect that renovation/running costs would be a bit insane. But a friend and I were looking for such a place to share, and nothing was coming up near enough to London.

(Ex chairman of HOF) - Love the private golf course and grounds! - even the house and garages look very well laid out. Even better is a 5 minute drive and 15 minute train and you'll be in Central London
My old Directors (pre HOF chairman) house.

Looked nothing like that when he had it!

Seems like the old bunker is back up for sale again.

I remember when it was a bunker as a kid.

I've been there -- a friend of my daughters rented it a few years ago. Lovely house.
