Had a tour of this place at the weekend http://www.netherbyhall.co.uk/ The owner is a car guy who has used PH, although I'm not sure he actively uses the forums. He's looking to organise some motoring events there for 2017 and I'm helping out with that.
As you'll see from the website they are undertaking a full restoration of the house, outbuildings and gardens. I wouldn't like to guess at the amount being spent but I love the fact that they are doing it. From my brief time there it feels like you really need lots of people around for it to feel like a home. They had guests staying and it did bring a nice atmosphere to the place.
Local to me, or where I was born, anyway. Think i've been there at some point for something or other so wonder if he's done car stuff before. There's plenty of car clubs within the area, so it'd be worth contacting them to see if they'd like to organise a show there.

(don't get me wrong, nothing against Colorado, but why is there such property there ? I understand in the Ski-resort'y must have locations, but there seems to be some magnificent ranches in the middle of nowhere. I am amazed that they all have their place in the big scheme of things.)

Yes Yes, I do 'get that' and all very well to go play in with various skidoo toys, hunt and alike. In the snow.
Summer time shoot st and 'Outdoorsy'
Ski-ing though, needs infrastructure and slopes. Being in Vail etc is understandable to tap in to that vibe, infrastructure, "IT" location - I am just genuinely curious how there are so many 'middle of nowhere' uber big properties. And the causation.
Big Properties also tend to be near water to play with Big Toys too...

Satellite view on the Rightmove listing shows the landslip not too far from the front of the property. Nice place but I'd be worried about driving out of my drive one day into thin air...
Nah, it'll be fine! One of the posh houses is likely to be owned by a friend of a few MPs. A few boats full of granite blocks will be dropped off fairly soon...

If you use the 3d video walk through on that house, go upstairs, there is a patio door open, go out on the veranda - and look around, the place is covered in snow....

And the added bonus that the drive home up the driveway would be like the Pikes Peak every night !

Colorado is amazing. People like to be free and away from mainstream society. I like to be left alone, away from the idiots and do my own thing. Vail, Aspen, Breckenridge and Telluride are very touristy and expensive. The rich ski towns spoil the state in my opinion.(don't get me wrong, nothing against Colorado, but why is there such property there ? The rest of the Colorado Rockies mainly consist of home steads, off the griders, cabins and farms. The front range is the most densely populated part and East of the front range is pretty much Kansas.
Western Colorado is perfect for outdoors people. If you like rules and people to be in your business then California is for you.
