Nice modest log home for sale in the lower Appalachians. Country living at low price. This would be around 450-550 quid a month. Plus property tax and home owners insurance so around 700 quid all in when the currency is converted. 3% 30 year fixed mortgage.

Foreclosure on a shack in the woods in the middle of nowhere (the area around the Appalachian range is hardly prime is it) is about as far away from real estate 'pawn' as you can get.

That's the equivalent of a terraced house in Grimsby being your choice if you won the lottery (which is the whole point of this thread otherwise we would just buy the houses we post).

Stick that anywhere near London though and it's a multi million pound mansion.

That video was equal parts the best thing and worst thing I've seen all week. I love it but it's absolutely terrible.

Either way I'm not buying the house, but I will be showing my estate agent the video and suggest he gets a couple of tricks from it, maybe even just picking up a fallen over garden chair before taking the main cover photo. Though I suppose that's asking a bit much.

Found this site the other day. I like the way he dissects why many large houses don't work.

Don't mistake your 'taste' for other peoples. Some of us like the idea of living somewhere like that.
We all have different taste. If you don't like something posted, find an alternative to post or STFU and clog another thread.

Oh fk off who made you the thread police either?

This thread is about fantasy homes out of reach.

Hey if people are up for seeing the house I'm thinning of buying or a nice 3 bed semi round the corner then consider me told.

But I don't think people are coming here expecting to see stuff like that because it's not 'pawn' if anyone can buy it.

That video - Looks like some kind of commune?

- working in the engine bay of an AC Cobra in a gingham shirt - seems legit

This one is about a mile away from where I live.

$1,950,000

I am fairly sure it was availible cheaper recently but I can't see the old price. The annual property taxes are $45k which is off putting.

That's an M.C. Escher drawing turned into 3D reality, right?

Agreed...

Although the previous thread that spawned this one did mention "local" pawn, and had a lot more British stuff because of it. (I realise PH is a global website, but does have a predominantly UK based readership.)

Maybe I'm getting old, but for me the definition of "pawn" in the sense of this thread is the lifestyle that the property could afford, more than the cost of it and how many jets you could land in the guest en-suite.

Locally, it's more about what I could get into with a win on the Euromillions £1m draw thingy. Is there a case for a local and a fairytale thread, perhaps when this one reaches it's critical size in a couple of months?

Anyway, relatively local to me is:

Which I quite like, with it being close to Dartmoor and lots of lovely cycling...

There is absolutely nothing I don't love about that place.

No, just one thread with people's idea of their dream house. Keep it simple.

Outside of the S.Hams that's a near perfect location, secluded / close to A38, Ashburton and Bovey.

Excellent find!
Really glad to be back on track with slightly realistic Brit property, not the Colorado stuff.

After a bit of a better look, and a read of particulars, it seems that the BBQ would probably be a bit of a pain to convert to Gas. So I'll have to let you have it. thumbup

(Although I will be buying a lottery ticket on the way home.)
