Perfect.

Not sure about the machine gun fire from the army range will be appreciated by the dogs though. But if I could afford that I'd buy them ear muffs.
I live near the ranges on Salisbury plain. You hear the machine guns occasionally, the tanks, and this weekend there were large 'crump- crumps' of artillery.

I love it. Dog ignores it all.

Yes it landed on the track.

Cool.

Yes you would definitely hear the firing range from there
I wasn't sure
even if you can i think it will be distant and they don't get to play much. Bullets are expensive smile

Yeah I think you'll hear it . Wouldn't put me off. Great location just checked I didn't win the lottery frown

I'm fairly surely they're shutting a couple of barracks in York, soon.
Strensall is definitely going...

I live 3 miles further away and I can hear it

It has been pretty busy since new year, 3 days a week so far

Not sure if the shooting range is closing when the barracks do. I have heard that it is and also that it is staying open...

I use it and have not heard that it's closing.

I know this converted reservoir in Sidmouth has been on here before, but this Mail article is both interesting and tactical genius given the obvious difficultly they're having in selling (price drop + agent #2 at least)

If i was in the area, i'd pay maybe £300k if it came with a bit of land, but none of that is to my taste at all.

If i were spending a million or so on a house then it would have to have a view.

I'm sure it's nice but i would feel like it was some sort of futuristic hi Tech jail.

Where else are you going to get a bit of Soane for £1.6m?

£300k round these parts (I'm Ottery, so about 5 miles away) doesn't get you much in the way of house Prawn, this is the only 4 bedroom house (there is a 4 bed flat for £240k) for less than £325k:

Although, for around the £1m mark in Sidmouth, you can get something more than the Reservoir. This needs decorating to suit, but has a 2 bed cottage for guests too, and something that can almost be classed as a view:

I like that the Reservoir place exists, I can appreciate it for what it is, but I wouldn't want to live there.

My favourite for a number of pages. Bathroom with the beams in the way might be interesting in the middle of the night!

Agreed, very nicely done.
Small world, this is actually mine/brothers and happy to do a Pistonhead's deal if anyone is interested!
The beams work well on the upper floors, so far none of the kids have fallen over just a pain if you need to go to the toilet in the night.
Stunning grounds and currently having the garden re-done as this was lacking any design and never felt connected to the house.

So many original features in the house and every time we visit I am amazed by the amount of detail in the original build.
Will be a shame to see it go, we have had allot of good weekends away with friends and family

It's exquisite. Would like to see more of that ceiling if you've got a photo handy...

JEALOUS!

Stunning place mate. I had never looked at the floor plans before either but love the ensuites above all of the bedrooms layout. Its brilliant.

'we have had a lot of good weekends away with friends and family' - this is an occasional/holiday home? Even more jealous! hehe

Shame there wasn't a restoration thread posted, looks an ideal candidate for a really good one.
