My theory, possibly misguided, I don't know anyone that rich, is that anyone happy to drop $30m on a house in a lake would probably want to access it by chopper, as their time is probably quite valuable.

Even if they subscribe to the 3F Rental principle, it would still need to be able to touch down.

Sleep tight, that noise you hear in the night is just the wind, or a tree, or an owl or it might be something else.

Cheap, £150,000, vacant possession, sorry did I say possession I meant no one living there, there's a few dead though - http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

It would be useless for me from a location perspective, but I somehow still love the idea of it.

I bet there's a load of covenants on the purchase though.

I'm not in the market for this one, but would this make you run a mile?

It depends. If we were looking for a house in that area, and the wife had found it on Rightmove, fallen in love with it, insisted on viewing it, and then properly fallen in love with it again, I'd probably end up dealing with it.

If I spotted it first, I'd try to work out how to stop her finding it. wink

This looks a bargain even by Welsh standards. As a lawyer, I could even practice my courtroom skills in the comfort of my own home.

What! Opposite the Castle, that big and grand and only 525k. Does it need £2m of work? Although a private house with emergency exit signs ring some funny bells with me. Antiques showroom?

Sadly we have just spent £150k extending our current property plus have 5 year olds settled at school.

One can dream though.
We moved from Sheffield to Lincolnshire when my 3 kids were 4, 8 and 12.
The oldest 2 weren't pleased to begin with but soon settled in.
That was 6 years ago and have never regretted it.

Will you get the £150k back when if you sell?

Don't look for excuses just do it.

I like the fact the gallery can seat 90 for evening performances of 'Having a cup of tea whilst watching Eastenders'.

That Wentworth House, owned the crook from the Hatton job: my Mum knows it and apparently in the local gossip circles everyone thought that the owner was a criminal! There's another massive gin palace on her road that reads dodgy too (late night comings and goings, lots of vans, ridiculous levels of security etc)

Wentworth is a funny place. I grew up there - my parents bought their house there many years ago. No real sense of community (not even a local pub worth the name), lots of gates, and clearly lots of very dodgy money sitting in empty houses.

I hated it as a teenager. Getting my driving licence was like getting out of jail.
