I've got my own views on that house, but what's the issue?
Middle of a council estate.

Always a reason if something looks too good to be true.

One click on streetview & it's "ergh wot?" to be honest even the inside is gross.

Not surprised. That is the definition of buying a house knowing you will probably never be able to sell it again for anything like the money you may want/need.

It has indeed - the price hasn't moved in that time either, as far as I recall.

There are a few older houses left stranded in Redditch but none have been made as unsaleable as that one by the development around them. The area behind it is worse than it looks on Streetview. Incongruously there are a couple of 1980s detached places on the approach to the driveway so it doesn't look quite as bad from that direction.

ETA: I've found another of them - now off the market, but not showing as sold. It first came on way before the 2015 date stated on Rightmove: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

And here's another which has been hanging round forever (probably 8 years too) - it's situated on a ridiculously busy main road, at the bottom of a hill exactly where a dual carriageway becomes single: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...

Further ETA: and this one: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope... which has come down a little in price and doesn't blatantly have anything wrong with it; it's just too pricey.

Once I'd put away my dictionary and thesaurus, I was going to pass comment. Thanks for beating me to it.

That is lovely. Why no pic of the view though? You can just about tell it's amazing through a windows in the back of one of the early shots.
Google Earth it.....

not for me even though I do like it!!
Ah. Oops. It's a steep hill so those below might not obscure the view. But a shame - you have to guess the current owners made something in that deal.

They're pretty fancy those new homes, if I remember from driving past there, but still...

No, I think it was Will Self beating Stephen Bailey to it.

I've been lusting after this for a while now. Everything I need in my life is here. 2 double garages, a boat house, an acre of lawn to justify a ride on lawn mower and some decent views for lazy bbq evenings. Just need to find 1.5 million.

I think you're right. Anything over about £850k seems to take ages to shift down here. Not quite as long as the 8 years on the unfortunate property on the previous page mind. laugh

Off the cliff perhaps...

I don't mind a holiday in Devon/Cornwall, but the idea of living there would fill me with dread.

That particular one overlooks the Teign Estuary, rather than the English Channel. It should be more secure. I know what you mean though, for other places.

Living here is really rather heavenly. (OK, maybe not heavenly, but we have electricity, colour TV and running water. The whole lot.)

I live in deepest Cornwall - south of Helston toward The Lizard. It is without a doubt on of the most beautiful places in the country. The coastline (especially around me), the beaches (Kynance Cove especially) the countryside, the houses (well some), the pubs, the small quaint villages (Mousehole is uber picturesque).

However I move away in the summer to Hampshire. I cannot wait. It currently takes me 2.5 hours to get to the motorway (Exeter), there are no real attractions down here (I know beaches are great but we need family orientated places all year round), no proper football or cricket to watch, and so many of the Cornish population have never left Cornwall. It is too relaxed - I have had concerns my children are not seeing enough of the country and the world - hence when the opportunity came along to move away me and the Mrs jumped at the chance.

It will be a culture shock to hit the busy streets of Hampshire - but it hopefully will give so much more.

Here is an ideal place to retire. I love it here, but it annoys me so much! The relaxed laid back lifestyle is finally taken is toll on me!

However wonder if in a years time I will be pleading to come back!

It looks a wonderful place to retire but as you allude to - very isolated and almost a different country in that regard. I would be bored in a week but one man's meat is another's poison.

Where in Hants are you moving? I originate from those parts and its a nice part of the world. West Wittering has a nice beach, as does Hayling and Bournemouth (ok, so the latter isn't Hants but a short drive). London is an easy train or drive away.
