Sparks have been in today:

1. Outside socket and lights fitted
2. Most power points and light switches changed
3. New light fittings installed
4. TV and network points installed


Few more sockets (behind tvs etc), LEDs and new fuseboard to go:



(Bare brickwork is where we need a couple of repairs where the porch wall came down)

Mainly as it was falling down.... single brick construction not properly tied into the house and the roof had kitchen worktop as one of its main constiuant parts!

The plan is to rebuild it properly at a later date

Electrician's have been progressing well, we know have power restored to all the house and both the original board and the recent board have been replaced with a newer bigger board.

Only issue has been with wiring up the Master/Slave Varilight light switches - looks like we may need an extra cable or two in there. In which case we may have dig out the switch in the hallway.

On a lighter note the hallway has now been mist coated.

Managed to get some paint on the walls - Hallway is matt white (taken three coats of Wickes trade matt white).

Lounge has been miscoated then a couple of coats of Dulux Mercury Shower 6 on the ceiling then a coat Dulux Grey Steel 1 on the walls:


Quick test of the cabling using whatever DVD was in the machine (Robots I think)




Camera hasn't quite captured the colours but we're happy with the results. Just need to stain the woodwork, have the floor installed and put up the LED lighting

Electricians finished today and the flooring for the lounge & hall has been put down:







I had a trip to Ikea and have been in flat pack hell for most of the evening - nearly finished putting the media unit together but will need to go back tomorrow for a replacement door.

Is was about £4k to have the chimney taken out plus plastering

Lots of flatpack work today and a pleasant drive in the TVR up to Evergreen Cafe to pick up the paintings.

Curtains will be going up tomorrow, then that just leaves staining/varnishing woodwork and some photos to go on the walls

Got a stained area on one of the walls but this will be covered by the pictures

Any recommendations on what do with the new (pine) skirting boards, doors & architraves?

I don't want to gloss them, I was thinking stain or varnish to match the floor.

Hallway doesn't have a picture but i'll find something to go in that section for you.

Have you looked the the Osmo oil range? It can appear a little pricey, but applies brilliant and gives an excellent finish, if you have a local timber merchant they may have the very small tin which you could try on an off cut.

I've been cracking on with the master bedroom. Walls and ceiling are a light grey and the feature wall wallpaper is from B&Q:

Master bedroom is now ready for carpet which is being fitted on Friday.

Managed to find some curtains to match the wallpaper (they need taking up) and we've chosen wardrobes/new bed so will get those ordered in the next couple of weeks.



Also picked up a cheap picture from Ikea to brighten up the hallway:

What bed did you choose? I'm having difficulty choosing stuff for my new place to be honest so definitely up for any inspiration!

We've kept our old divan and added a new headboard (cheapy Argos one) but we quite like the look of one in Benson's for Beds (Oppulance on something) but until i've decorated the spare room we're going to keep what we have

LOVE the picture lighting too!

All the LEDs and picture lighting was from Guy and his team. Had one issue with the connector cable (too thick to go through the light arm) but they sorted that our very promptly.

To be honest we use the LEDs more than the pedant lights now.

Edit to add. How do you switch the lighting on behind that pic. Switches at bedside or near door? Is it wired into ceiling light or just on its own? Sorry for the Spanish inquisition.

No problem. TV is mounted on the wall, then is a frame around that and across the wall (approx 3" deep from memory). Then a couple of sheets of mdf were mounted with a cut off for the TV.

The recess is approx 4" from memory. Eg the studwork is overlapped by the mdf sheet and this creates the channel for the leds to be stuck too.

Lighting is from Guy on here and are the warm white led strips (circa 3m).

They are controlled from a switch by the bed which also controls the main pendent light. So switch by the door is a single (two way I believe) and the switch by the bed is a double.
