Hi, I'm wondering if anyone is able to give me a rough cost for building a garage? I am able to build it myself, but having always been able to "aquire" timber for previous projects, I'm unsure how much material will cost!

I currently have enough 22mm ply for the roof, and ample felt to cover it, so only need a rough idea on cost for the framing and shiplap for cladding. The garage will be roughly 6m by 3.5m.

I'm just trying to weigh up costs against getting a company in to build one for me.

Cheers!

VERY rough guess from asking for costs on here for a simular project before, about 6-8K all in for a builder to supply and complete all work?

I think we may need more details than that.

It sounds like you are going for a wooden garage, so I would have thought less than the figure quoted above, which I assume would be for a brick/block garage.

Have you got the base for the garage prepared?

Yes sorry my guess above was full brickwork, groundworks, electrics the lot.

Grass patch to finished garage.

Sorry guys, some more info! I have a concrete sectional garage that has seen better days, on a good, substantial base. Basically all I am looking to do is dismantle the sectional garage with rotten roof, and build a nice new timber garage on the existing base. I have material for the roof, a new up and over front door, a UPVC side door and a double glazed window for it.

The garage will be roughly 2.2m wall height.

I don't know where the best place to get timber from? I'm in the Glasgow area, and find vast differences when looking online for prices. I'm offshore at the moment so can't visit any timber merchants to price up 3x2 or shiplap.

Looks like approx 35 Sq.M of 19mm log lap and 160M of 75 x 50, around £630 in total...plus delivery

That's seems to be a better price than I've got, it's over £10k without electrics!

I'm hopefully about to start the process of a block and rendered 30x17ft garage, room in roof trusses, slate roof, hopefully at under £14k all in.

Just my managing it myself and getting people in, much cheaper than giving a builder £30k to do it.

I'm in Newcastle - last year I had a 4m x 9m garage done for ~£10.5k. Did the electrics ourselves and the garage door was about £1.5K or so.
