A while ago a friend of mine showed me his latest toy - a laser level that screwed into a drill hole that self leveled a little like those crappy 'eyeball' compasses that you would see in an XR3i long before sat navs became more commonplace.
It would be handy to have such a thing for putting up shelves, pictures and that kind of thing but I cannot find one for love nor money. Perhaps I am looking in the wrong place?
Any ideas where I can find one?
Hoping the power of PH can help!

Do you not have a normal spirit level (and some string if you don't have something like an I-Beam level that can span the distance you need)?

Just sounds like a normal self levelling laser? There's a few on Screwfix?

They usually have a bracket that comes with them so you can screw them to a wall or with a magnet bracket so you can stick them to scaffolds.

Steady on, I had one in my Sunbeam 1.6, complete with tiny LCD clock!

Bosch Quigo from B&Q (diy.com)? It's about £50 has a tripod type mounting base with a clamp that allows you to attach it to things or can be removed to allow you to just sit it on a surface. Projects a decent enough cross hair and self-levels.

hehe I wonder if you can still get them? They might have died off a little bit like 'feu orange'
Will check screw fix - in fact there's one on the way to work! It's all coming together smile

Is this the one you're looking for? https://www.google.co.uk/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=R3lXU5a...

I liked the Feu-Orange fresheners too, wonder if elf 'n safety hit them on the head because of the pin.

I bought one of these, it did a good job of lining up a series of shelves.

Thanks for the suggestions - and I even spent a fruitless morning searching online but clearly whatever it was that I was shown isn't in production.
I dont really want a projection style one and frustratingly all the wall mounted ones seem to use a pin to fix into the wall without the facility to use a screw frown
Oddly ebay almost came up trumps with a little module about twice the size of a PP3 battery. Seems nice - but direct from Hong Kong and far too cheap so quality will be suspect.....

A water level will be far more accurate and way cheaper
