Jesus, and as a first time buyer I'm finding I need to earn north of 40k to buy a £160k property!?!

What's broken here? I really just want a house...
How much of a deposit? A fiver?
Debt that would make the Glazer family blush?

Must be something.

The whole housing system is broken, they're not homes anymore they're "investment opportunities". How else would a developer sell a shoebox size flat made of breeze blocks and plywood for £300k in a normal town.

Sad really but that's capitalism for you.
So, what the answer? Become a cash buyer?...
Earn more or save more for deposit. By which time prices will have gone up again.

People like the OP I guess? Already has a house but wants another one to let out, rather than another person have the opportunity to buy it. Enough people with a "fk you got mine" attitude and you're left where we are now - house prices rising faster than ordinary people who just want to live somewhere are able to earn enough to buy them.

That's capitalism though for you, cheers!
