From this link it appears you have to use approved installers as suggested above :- http://gdorb.decc.gov.uk/find-a-green-deal-supplie...
Good link, shame there are no approved installers for what I want. What a pile of st.Dave211 said:

I really disagree with anything "green" that is subsidised to the extent that helps towards fuel poverty especially the elderly.
Understand the sentiment, but I can imagine this grant fund has as much linked to fuel poverty as road fund license has linked to maintaining roads. Renovation said:

Exactly.
I looked at the figures it's simply cheaper to do the work without the grant.
Was this based on external insulation , or internal ? I looked at the figures it's simply cheaper to do the work without the grant.
I have decided against external (I have solid walls upstairs) and am going for internal despite also intending to render - I simply don't like the theory of external render and feel it will crack long term - I also want to keep the windows & soffit etc as they are.
Update time and looking for some of your views on a 'situation'....
I went ahead and applied for the external wall insulation with the same energy company/agency that had quoted my folks.
They took a £1000 deposit off and then set the ball rolling. Not too long after it i had an email from the Government side of things saying my green deal voucher application was being processed. This was followed up a week or two later with an email containing the actual voucher.
So i then inform the energy company that the voucher has been approved. With that they then started programming the work in. Our area was/is the last area that they are doing so it has taken a bit longer than originally anticipated.
So i was going with the flow as im in no rush really (although it would be nice to have it done before the cold weather sets in) and then had a call at the door today from one of the reps with a chip and pin machine saying they want £3000 up front for the materials and scaffolding. It caught me slightly unaware so told him i cant pay today and that ill contact them monday.
After he left i read the quote that i had been given originally. I was told that the original deposit of £1000 was to cover the cost of scaffolding and that the remaining sum i would pay after the work has been completed and i have cashed in the voucher. Also in the terms and conditions it states that any interval payments will be listed over leaf (on the quote) to which none were.
Apparently many customers have been reluctant to hand over the cash after the work has been done and they have cashed in the vouchers and it seems the energy company are asking for the £3000 up front to try and combat this. That said im not happy about it myself.
So i put it to the PH massive to get your opinion. Would you hand over another few £3000 prior to the work when it was never originally agreed?

If it is a large well known Co. and I get a written receipt stating the schedule of works then I would - BY CREDIT CARD as then I'm protected regardless.I went ahead and applied for the external wall insulation with the same energy company/agency that had quoted my folks.
