What can go wrong???

Looking for an AIR nail gun that fires proper nails not brads - have already got one of those.
Will be used for fixing battens and cladding. I'm thinking around 50-60mm long.

Slight complication is that I must be able to get stainless & normal nails in the right angle or coiled.
What's best angled or coiled?

Budget is around £100-150 so not enough for Paslode!
Cheers

Get an angled framing nailer. Ace & K used to be a good nail gun to have. Depending on budget, the Bostitch from Screwfix would do the job. Whatever gun you get, oil it every day you use it.

Stop it!!biggrin

Even I can't justify £400+ on a nail gun to put a few panels on a shed.
Was thinking more along the lines of - Machine Mart

Complete tat or OK for occasional jobs??

I have to say that Paslode are by far the best, I've got a framing nailer, and two finishing guns and they have been invaluable! Once you've got used to the freedom of no hose, it's a real git to go back to one afterwards, they always seem to get right in the way!

If you do stick to an air nailer though, I'd make sure your compressor can take it, as they can need a fair bit of pressure to work, especially if driving 4" nails. Also, getting the nails isn't always easy, as most local trade places I've seem mainly stock Paslode.

Good man

Always make sure you keep your hands at least 100mm away from the end IN ALL DIRECTIONS!! As I've seen nails hit hard knots and bend 180 degrees to lodge right in the hand that's placed next to the gun to steady it !!!

THIS DOES HAPPEN!

Seriously, it's a great piece of kit, but always wear goggles, and keep your fingers out of the way. I use clamps to hold things down whilst nailing after I was fitting a dwang a few years ago, held it in place with my free hand, a 90mm nail hit a knot and came out between two of my fingers! I took this as a sign to a) keep my pinkies out the way and b) to watch the scene from original alien film where bishop demonstrates his knife skills!

Yes! Tried all the cheapies and ended up with paslode. Cheaper just to buy one in the first place!

So...got the gun, what nails do I feed it with?

Third party nails and gas are half the price of genuine Paslode.
Do third party nails jam like a bcensoredtch or are OK for DIY use?

Cheers
