I would set about it with treated wood and deck boards rather than pallets but doesn't look too bad, hardest part is finding pallets which aren't battered.

Beware woodworm...

An arseful of that is rather uncomfortable.

British pallets look a bit different to the ones used here.

Just built a wood store out of pallets at the weekend and the hardest bit was finding identical pallets. Don't underestimate how much extra work it generates when they are not identical.

That's quite a cool idea, practicalities of making it etc. aside.

On an unrelated note our self assembly corner sofa (Nabru) was delivered on a pallet, buy enough indoor sofas and you get a free outdoor sofa laugh

I'm in two minds. I kinda like the idea but then I guess it's also a bit naff. The miser in me would do it to save lots.

Given that the furnishings are, I would guess, the expensive bit I don't really see the point of doing it this way. Buying new wood to build a frame from wouldn't be expensive enough to bother have the faff of trying to match random knackered pallets.

That looks funky biggrin

I'd knock it up in some rough tantalised timber myself and just say you up cycled some pallets.

I have built a wood store and compost bins out of pallets, and yes the fact they are not a standard size or design is a pain.

Our compost heaps have three sides made out of pallets, a bit of old fencing at the front. Seven pallets used.

Those are Euro pallets, not sure how much they are used here though.

There's no such thing as a British pallet really. Pallets come in either standard 1000 x 1200mm size e.g. GKN blues or 800 x 1200mm Euro pallets. You can get all different shapes & sizes but 95% of what is out there will be one of those two sets of dimensions.

If you must work with pallets, take good care chopping them up. Wooden pallets used in international trade are more often than not impregnated with strong pesticides to arrest the spread of indigenous insects. I wouldn't want to breathe that stuff in.
