What do you pay for a window cleaner?

We live in a small 2 bed house which has a total of 5 windows (one of which is postage stamp sized for the bathroom and is opaque so probably doesn't even need cleaning). We have just been quoted £50 for a one off clean. I reckon it will take the best part of 20-25 minutes to do them. Am I being tight? Is that the going rate? If it is I think I need to change careers (oh and get a head for heights, or at least a long squeegy on a pole). I remember when my parents had a window cleaner and it was £4 for a much bigger house with loads more windows but it was a few years ago now!

where do you live? That may dictate how much it is.

Ask for it to be a regular thing, once a week, the price will then fall. I have seen this before, expensive for a one off but much less for an on going arrangement.

Seriously, do it yourself, I do, with an extension pole, you won't even need a ladder.

I was paying £18 for a five bedroomed detached with a large conservatory, but he was crap, missing all the corners so I fired him off.

Usually do them once a month, more if needed. Takes forty minutes at most.

Your bloke's price is taking the censored

In a village between Warwick and Banbury. Yep we did ask for a one off clean so may try a different tack and an extension pole......

A big thread on this a few weeks back what everyone paid. Personally £8 for 11 win down and a 4 bifold door once a month so yes your being quoted far too much but it's a one off so not worth their time hence the higher price.

We have 15 Windows, most of them large sash and a pair of french doors. I get charged £10 a time. He uses a ladder and cleans the frames. I wouldn't use one of the guys who use a pole.

Big 4 bed with lots of windows on 3 sides - I pay £15

He uses de mineralised water pumped up a long pole - takes him less than 20 mins but would take me a couple of hours.

Have always done my own.

Never ever had a window cleaner.

Even 50 squid does sound a tad expensive.

I used to have a window cleaner once a month. If he comes every 3 months you don't notice a difference.

I pay £8 in Bedford for 9 windows plus patio doors. He uses a long pole and brush with filtered water as well. I never used to get them cleaned but I got him to do mine after he did next door and now get them done every 6 weeks. It is amazing how much of a difference it makes!
