Just took some Duke of Yorks out of a planting bag container.
Is there anything I could replace them with, I do have some turnips
in a "readycrate" type container, I think they would be better in there.
More room and deeper, would they transplant or is there something else I can
plant instead?

Thanks.

Transplanting your turnips would knock them back unless they are still very small, so I wouldn't try, unless maybe you can get the plants and soil all out intact and just place the whole lot in the new containers.

Otherwise a bit late to start anything off, radishes or cut and come again type salad leaves would be ok.

If you can bulk up the soil with some rich compost and get 3-5 long canes tee-peed in the bag and plant some runner bean seeds, their should be time to get a crop.

Or (especially 'autumn' varieties of) carrot.

Or salad crops.

Put some more spuds in and have them ready for Christmas dinner. I do this every year in containers around 14 weeks before Christmas - Charlotte are my favourites.

Thanks for the ideas guys, didn't think spuds would go again.
Now need to find some seed potatoes, off to the garden centre.

It's not too late to sow beetroot.

Took these out today and sowed some Autumn King carrots in both empty bags. (2.9kgs)
When the King Edwards come out I think its gonna be Turnips moved, soil and all into one bag and
possibly runner beans or beetroot, can'beat variety.

Thanks for the pointers,

Dave.

Autumn King carrots.
Good choice. The taste of fresh homegrown carrots is exceptional.

If you are going with runner beans you need to get them in pronto, be too late otherwise.
