It's now been re-classified as a heap of junk and has been banished to the garage to serve out the rest of it's days sucking up wood chippings!!

It took all of 5 minutes with my new shiny shiny to change our minds. Dyson DC 59 Animal absolutely rocks. The official welcoming and wall hanging ceremony will be taking place later - pride of place on full show in the lounge.

My apologies Henry but you suck (not). Thanks for the many years service but I'm afraid there's no gold watch for you laddy.

Just got rid of my Dyson after a rather dense smoke cloud filled the lounge, last time it was use , I'm now using a semi retired George, which I find is quicker to use than a Dyson and has far more suction than my fully cleaned out and re filtered Dyson, also George a handled things up to the size of a small child without getting blocked!

Me and Mrs Gently were seduced by the Dyson, the looks, the sucking power the bag-less dust collection, Henry was unceremoniously banished to the shed. Spool to the present and Henry is back in his rightful placed and still sucking, the Dyson has been landfill for many years.

No more dysons for us. We have the thing with the ball now and it's st. On it's 3rd brush bar and it's now limping around because the ball is not held correctly. For the same money you can get a good Miele.

Strange these threads. Never had a problem with my Dyson and it's a good few years old now.

That's because the old Dysons are far superior to the new ones. We purchased a Dyson Animal around 13 years ago and it's still used for really dirty jobs. The new Dyson that replaced it is shocking.

I still weep when I think about the overpriced pile of ste Dyson, I purchased...Dyson lasted about six months. The Henry purchased to replace it is still going strong eight years later

Seconded! Thats why I buy DC07s at £8 each, refurbish them and sell them for £50-£60, never have one for sale for more than a day!

Thought this might spark off the old Hoover debate hehe Fact is my old Henry is still going strong but I was amazed at how much stuff was left behind. I went over it again with the Dyson and had to empty it THREE times!! granted the battery Dyson has a small capacity but come on THREE trips to the bin - Henry just does not cope with 2 dogs and two cats end of story.

Obviously I can't comment on its longevity and the price tag is stupidly high but then again Wifey is happy and I got my brand new Stihl MS211-C chainsaw into the bargain bounce

Will do but it wont be for at least two years thereafter there's nothing in it that I can't fix myself spin by which time there should be plenty of spare parts available at my local tip wink

I bought a Henry, utterly useless, it's going back! Can't even lift dog hairs up off the floor - I can summon more suction with my mouth and a drinking straw!

Bagless vacs are a solution to a problem that didn't need solving.
Why would you want to take apart and clean the thing that is supposed to clean?

You unclip the cylinder, hold it over the bin and press a button. Why would you clean it?

It's "horses for courses", really. A Henry is nowhere near as good as a Dyson on carpet, but it will survive pretty much anything you throw at it.

...because the filters will need cleaning on a regular basis to prevent the lack of suction from such occurring - can be very messy with the larger filters. smile
