The lease says...

"...to use the flat or any part thereof or permit or suffer the same or any part thereof to be used for the purpose or any trade manufacture or business of any description or for any other purpose than for private residential purposes....."

Does this exclude holiday letting? We cannot make up our minds!

Yes it is excluded - well holiday lettings is a business

BUT, surely when you rent a house for holiday you are in effect a private residential tenant for those 2 days / weeks.

Thanks!

I think the business of any description would rule it out quite easily, yes you could spin it in the way that you are, but in reality, I don't think you could.

I'm not a lawyer, but I do deal with property a lot. To me that sounds like it rules out it being used as a holiday let.

Private residential purposes could include holiday letting because its still residential no? but why don't you simply ask the landlord?

Obviously you need to seek professional advice, but a quick google brought this up from a solicitors website:

That's disappointing, but not unexpected. smile (It's for sale and this was an inquiry from a potential purchaser)

Oh well.

Thanks everyone!
