If you are a numpty, don't know any plumbers, can't get hold of £2k at short notice then these type of schemes are worthwhile.
For your average PHer they are a complete rip off.
I never have a boiler serviced until I sell the house - the last time I had one serviced it then didn't work and I fixed it via google as the plumber didn't fix it at the second attempt and took so long to come back (he hadn't cleaned the trap properly)
