demolition 2 storey extension best approach
Discussion
Hi Guys
Getting closer to starting my new build need to start the demolition soonish, i had a price for the demolition at 7k labour only all done by hand ...whats the best way to approach this....my thoughts i was going to carry out the soft strip out and then get in a 360 with a driver for the day knock it down and remove all debris with the use of a grab truck.
whilst i can find loads of mini diggers with drivers for the day not a single 360 with driver....is the approach above the one i should be taking anyone know of a 360 and driver that i can hire also does a 360 need more spare than i currently have on the drive....would i also need to sort out the wood from the hardcore will the grab trucks take it all as is.7k seems like alot.Got to be a easier and cheaper way of getting rid of the 2 storey extension.
Cheers

It's quite expensive to remove waste - £200 a load and they won't take mixed loads.
I'd get some cheap labour to remove the wood and glass etc then demolish it and hire a crusher so you can re use it or sell it.
I hired an 8 ton 360 for circa £500/week and drove it myself.
Demolition waste is a killer in cost. KILLER.I'd get some cheap labour to remove the wood and glass etc then demolish it and hire a crusher so you can re use it or sell it.

We have paid literally THOUSANDS to remove rubble by a grab lorry...
Skips for general waste.
Front half of this bungalow cost 7k to demolish:
two guys stripped out the internals:
Then pulled it down with a 3cx:
The aim is to end up with just hardcore which was taken away with a grab, which is sometimes quite valuable depending on whats going on in your area. I kept all the wood for the log burner which took two years to consume.
Given we had the room, which should of just hired a crusher as two weeks later we were paying for crushed concrete to be re-delivered back to us for the base:

Buy/hire the biggest machine that will fit down your drive and demolish it yourself.
We bought a JCB to do just that. Spend a couple of days ripping out the internals, glazing, roof covering and timbers. Then rip through it with the machine. Much fun to be had, PLUS, any savings made at this stage of a project are big bonus's! Don't forget that the foundations need to come out too!
Getting rid of the spoil can prove expensive, but try your local farmers. They might be needing some hardcore. We generated around 60T of rubble from a decent size single storey extension. It cost about £100 per 15T load to get it taken away. Much cheaper than skips.
