Maintaining social distance from delivery drivers is a breeze though. Driver puts the stuff in the box at the bottom and we collect it 30m away at the top!
Amazing project OP, as others' have said. Technology moves on, and an AC induction motor with starter windings is old hat now. Again, as others' have said, the way forward would be a brushless servo motor and inverter to replace the heritage motor, the rest remains as it is, electronic control, limit switches etc. A new servo motor and inverter would have the advantage of soft start and proportional controls allowing for a start profile rather than just on/off.
