No doubt genuine, but amusing to compare their enthusiasm for foolproofness (eg cutting the cake, 'sealing' the machine with tape) with the fact that the video has so many edits in it that anything could have happened... an entire herd of wildebeest could have gone through and you'd never know!
Indeed, however, I will putting our dishwasher through the cake test and ill do a video. Not sure anyone would want to watch the dishwasher for 2 hours on you tube though.

biggrin
Rather reckless from miele all the same. The amount of warranty service calls caused by misuse of an appliance such as this must cost them £1000's. I am certain the service department would have put a stop to this had they been informed. I for one would love the lady to remove the filter and see what state that is in after this or maybe the cake was some very water based recipe. Users need to be informed that dishwashers are not waste disposal units and this is hardly encouraging that. For one the cake itself is above the lower spray arm, shielded by the plate so will receive no pressure from that arm and the top arm is obviously pointing upwards. The only washing action touching that cake is from water dripping down from above so the only possible way it will "disappear" like that is by it dissolving completely, hardly the same as washing action.

Not that you would, but avoid anything made by Hoover. We got their cheap crap Candy appliances free with a kitchen for a house we rent out and they've been woeful. The dishwasher actually broke before it was used, but because the house stood empty for a time it was out of warranty! The idiot who came to fix it then scratched the floor pulling it out, leading to a three month wild goose chase with their 'claims' department. It's broken again since, as has the washing machine. The only thing that has worked without incident is the fridge.

Just to add..

Their drawing office was full of Dyson cleaners and Miele washing machines, when asked why , I was told it was because they were the best products in the market that they wanted to match.

They don't even know the best vacuums then... dysons are st.

Miele cat and dog or Henry is where it's at.

If I was in OP situation and had that choice of brands I'd go with the one I liked the look of best.

Must admit that we have a newish dyson upright and find it ok as long as the filters are cleaned regularly.

The miele we had before lasted about 8 years and has been relegated to car cleaning as the filter housing got broken some how.

Virtually everything in our kitchen is Bosch.

Buy right and they're not much more expensive than the likes of Zanussi, Hotpoint, etc. Very rarely have they failed and then it's usually down to our own incompetence. Our oven and fancy built in microwave are now on over ten years service and haven't let us down yet.

We normally buy our electrical stuff from the same local retailer who knows us and is trusted and even he says to stay away from the likes of AEG, Hoover and the rest. Quality and reliability has gone downhill since they moved production.
