hi all we having our bathroom installed, several contractors are doing the work, one main builder and we have source the separate professions such, as mirrors, marble, with one main builder. My wife is the project manager as such.

the builder has built the false walls, and now the marble people have been and put the panels up.

where the panel meets the plasterboard there is a gap, the marble people normally fill this will mastic but we hate mastic. i was looking at some sort of mouldting to bridge the gap.

wife was thinking perhaps silicone in there then some filler then sand down and paint so its all level, do you think that will work?

another alternative is to get the plasterer back in to redo the covers so they cover the area.

any other suggestions on whats best to do in this situation, its these little details which will make the room.

the shower door will be fitted inside the marble.

thanks

I'd use masking tape either side of the void and run a neat bead of an appropriate coloured silicone.

Alternative is to get your spread back in. New angle bead butted up against the marble and skim that bit again.

thanks for replaying, i think we can smarten it up with silicone, maybe pack the void behind the gap with wet tissue of something like that then mastic with perhaps a brown or white (with masking tape) and i reckon it will look good i just think as the rom is far off completion my missus is focusing on that too much.
however she think the plasterer should do the job again but im concerned by taking out what hes done will cause more damage to rectify.

No need to pack the joint with tissue or anything (it doesn't look big?). Tape it up, run a bead to fill the gap, let it skin and then run the proper bead. Smooth with a wet soapy finger or tool and whip the tape off.

Alternatively you could use caulk which could then be painted the same colour as the walls.

Either of the above done properly and neatly would give a pro finish.

cheers, yeah i would go down the route of beading and replastering it but the other side has a false stud wall and the beading cant go either side as it would mean plastering a whole wall face on the other side so i think perhaps caulk would be best then painted i think it will settle well into the room.

I fit granite and marble for a living we would use caulk, silicone is a nightmare if you want to paint anywhere near it.

Probably OTT for this application but I use Cementone - All Weather Sealant where tiles meet walls - it's waterproof like silicon but can be painted too.

How about a pair of 50-75mm strips of marble as architrave to cover the joint.

Maybe the stone masons could do that as a way of making up for damaging the tray?

Get a square metal tiling bead from a decent tile shop!

You couldn't cut strips of that marble it would fall to bits even with resin backing.
