If the damage has only been noticed once the blue protective film has been pulled back, how do you know who caused the scratches? Could it have been delivered and installed like that?
If the waste is removed and lowered, is there much else stopping it from being slid out?
Should be stuck down pretty soundly. I wouldn't like to remove any of the trays I put in. If it has legs you would have a better chance. If it's sat on the deck and stuck down properly, it definitely won't just pull out.If the waste is removed and lowered, is there much else stopping it from being slid out?
That tray is not coming out with stone on top of it.
The scratch / gouge is pretty deep, smart repairs will make it massively better, but they will not hide it 100%, nor will they last as well as the rest of the tray.
Ideally the marble should be removed, a new tray fitted, then the marble refitted, maybe after it has be resized to fit better.
But to do that is going to be a real pig.

I've just come home from work, and that's exactly what my wife thinks will be for the best, its not level but we could live with that. I don't know how they will get the marble panels off without breaking them or how to get them off theres aquaboard underneath which my builder said is better than plasterboard.
I don't know how uts going tomorrow wife is dreading it, but I'm going to look at our house policy as I'm just thinking its going to end up messy with them offering to get it repaired but that apparently invalidates the warranty on the tray.

They won't. What is your concern with a smart repair? Circumstances like this is exactly what they are for.hedgefinder said:
I would be surprised if they get imperial marone out in one piece, unless its been poorly secured, if I am being honest..
oh ok, yeah thats what i thought tbh. I just spoke to the legal team on our house insurance and they basically said that i need to put my complaint in writing and that i need to migate my costs as much as possible which bascially means a repair is all im going to end up with. wife is really upset and thinks its all ruined but to be fair thats her and once we have someone in that can advise us im going to have to put up with her complaining and saying i shoudl demand they take it out and start again lol
oh the joys...

She needs a sense of perspective. A minor repair to a shower tray is just that. A minor repair. oh the joys...
Or she can have a chat to my friend who lost both parents to cancer last year, whose brother was killed by a hit and run, and whose son has just been diagnosed with a tumour...
her shower tray is seriously a first world problem, and to some extent you should be annoyed. But mildly annoyed, not really upset.
I think you should get it repaired and get the fitters to pay for it. Ripping out the marble, then the tray, and replacing all will be a nightmare. Eg when removing the tiles it will pull the aquaboard off too ruining it. Etc etc. So repair and try and put it behind you. I don't think the repair will be noticeable in everyday life once the bathroom is finished. Once the bathroom is finished it will be a minor irritation but at the moment the problem seems massive to you (& wife) as you're in the middle of it all.

yeah i know what your saying to be honest i dont think we have had one tradesman in the house over the years that hasnt had a problem or left us with one. i wouldnt even say we are fussy, but yes its because the room is so bare and its just happended so its there constantly and its not even a scratch that perhaps wouldnt be too noticable. but see what they say tomorrow i still have money on them not turning up.
That shower tray could be cut out if necessary!
Why not fit a Wedi wet room tray in its place and use a matching marble tile!
In my experience you will always see a smart repair!
Main contractors responsibility to make sure that tray is protected.
We always use loads of cardboard and gaffer tape then dust sheets. Can't be too careful.
Good luck

just a thought and not sure if this is possible, but the old tray is cracked out and slide out, and the marble people make a custom made shower tray out of marble and this time its placed inside of the panels (rather than the panels sitting on the tray).
not sure even crack the tray is not going to damage the marble on the walls but i guess it could be angle grinded out.

Just about every reply you have come back with ..... Has the wife mentioned, bad move.
Immediately blaming the granite company when it could have been another trade ...... Bad move
Expecting the lot to be pulled out ...... Sorry your wife does ........ Bad move.
I'd say send the wife off for a few days, have a chat with the builder/granite guy/plumber and product manage it yourself. You'll find it all goes pretty well from then on and the job will get finished and done right.
I'd put money on it they have hated working there 'under your wife' probs all stressed out and mistakes are being made because of it.
I've seen it thousand times when the wife ' project manages'. Sounds sexist I know, but too often it's the way it goes.
Get it sorted bud.
