Aluminium French Doors
Discussion
Hi,
Need a little advice, I need a set of Aluminium French doors. I have been to see a few places but mostly they have uPVC and as the aperture is small (around 140cm) I wanted the thinner profiles.
It seems that they all make their own doors, so its hard to make a comparison unlike when you buy a TV etc where you can see all the specs.
Is there anything I need to know? Thickness of glass, thermal properties? Plastic or metal "bits"? Rollers/runners?
I will be going with a long established local company, so I am just guessing the quality will be good. I am on the Wirral if anyone can give any other recommendations
They are coming out next week to measure up, so I need to do some homework!
Cheers

Bit of a bump.....
Anyone got an idea of the cost of 1400 french aluminium doors? Got one quote so far, and its a LOT more expensive than I thought. Still waiting for other quotes to dribble in, but you know how it is....they come to measure up, but then never actually get round to the follow up/quote!!
Cheers

Try these peeps;
http://www.duration.co.uk/Premium-Plus-Aluminium-D...
- they will quote for supply only and generally fabricate in-house. Quality is acceptable - I've only had a couple of small windows from them but they've been in business for yonks, and their price was 25% below my local supplier.
You may be able to find a local fabricator still making ultra-thin profiles but it's rare due to newer regs on thermal loss (think how cars have gone lardy and you'll get the idea).
