Am interested to see how this will turn out as our downstairs layout is very similar to yours and I was thinking about moving some of the walls around to change the balance of the rooms.

To something like this:


But going all in and removing all the walls is an option hence my interest. You can always put them back up again, right wink

I think the things I am going to have to put a lot of effort into are things like the furnishings and the lighting to avoid making the place feel like a warehouse. I am going to attempt to zone the space using lighting and perhaps using feature walls, kitchen island etc..

I've only just found this thread, I'm impressed by the quality of the work! I might have to ask you to pop round and help me with my garden in the spring hehe (I'm just off Skipton Road). What a transformation so far!

As for your last point, I don't think you'll have any trouble making the room feel comfy, it doesn't look that big a space. I think a well laid out kitchen and the TV and sofas in the right place will be all you need.
