A thread from Feb 2022 (pre huge fuel price hikes) where I posed the question as to whether it's worth it or not to save money. As you can see the responses were rather mixed with some people from outside the UK chipping in, some people had got grants on solar (which are currently NLA), others remaining tight lipped about how they'd done it and some being more open. One person had only just had a heat pump fitted so wasn't a good example. So be aware of that and try to be open minded. Probe the person as to how they made it work, it's often not what people say you have to be wary of, it's what they don't say.
