So, I could write a book on my recent detailing with Scottish Power, having looked at Twitter, I am not the only person who is complaining at how mince they're. It's been truly an eye opening experience to how bad companies "customer services" can be.

Can anyone recommend a company that seem relatively OK or is that near impossible?

Thanks

I can not recommend British Gas, they are completely useless.

Npower are st. Customer service is zero. Come to think of it their overall service is zero. I was with them for about six months before telling them to sling their hook.

Sure, I'll try.

Received a letter confirming I had £120 in credit, phoned up to give meter reading, they confirmed I have been paying too much will call back to confirm final amount.

5 days later no return of call so "booked call" 14:10 call booked, call answered at 14:50 however the call has somehow put me through to the wrong department so transferred to another department - on hold for another 35 minutes so hang up.

Call next day, eventually through after something like 30 minutes, new guy confirmed that previous guy hadn't taken down my meter reading so new meter reading needed again.

Another call with the new meter reading - now £172 in credit after new meter reading but now need to wait 72 hours for meter reading and will call back confirmed credit.

New call as no money in my account or call. The £172 credit has now changed...... To 332 in debit now !

Still ongoing ....

I pay my bill quarterly by transfer. It may cost a little more but the three months I save each year in not having to argue with a customer disservice department is well worth it.

As a previous said, pay quarterly by bank transfer, avoids all the messing around with debits, etc. They cannot be trusted with a backdoor into your bank account, they repeatly prove this all the time.

British Gas.

Can update meter readings online and also adjust D/D payments at will.

No need to talk to anyone.

Also have some usable graphs to show and compare usage from current and previous years.

Not quite the cheapest though but close enough to stop me changing.

I've heard good reports about them, the problem with them is they'll only do electricity or dual fuel and I want to put just my gas with them.

Excuse my ignorance, but how does this work? Reading every month then billed at the third?

The meter is read every quarter by you or a meter reader, you then pay the bill they send you.
My mother in law was with SSE and paid monthly, it got to the point where she was £750 in credit and there was no way we could get the money refunded. She has ended up in a care home and after her house was sold we managed to cancel the contract and eventually she got a refund.

This weeks dealings with Scottish Power have me on the verge of flying to Liverpool. Just so I can beat some of their "customer service advisors" with their own limbs.

Complete and utter bunch of 24karat asswipes mad

I Supply are not worth the square root either.

We were with SP and I stupidly did the comparing of providers. EON pledged to save me a fortune, which they did for two months before hiking it up by almost double their quote. Got out of our contract and went back to SP who to be honest have been great to deal with. All in all I've been with SP for 14 out of 15 years and can't complain.

Another for First Utility - no problems whatsoever.

Although I pay monthly via electric smart meter & uploading gas reading. Send me an email reminder towards end of month for reading then email bill.
