I remember cleaning some industrial waste bins at a place i worked a long time ago. It was a burger manufacturing plant, and the hygiene standards were somewhat lacking to say the least.

Anyway, these bins i cleaned were literally crawling decomposing meat, maggots and blue bottles. The sight and smell is something that will stay with me for a long time!

In order to clean the bins properly they were laid on their sides, and any remaining waste left after the refuse collection was scraped out using a long handled shovel. A blowtorch was used on the maggots (more for fun really), and then industrial strength bleach was sprayed all around the insides of the bins and left for 10-15m. I then pressure washed the entire bin using a machine that i suspect could have stripped paint off an car at 50 yards, and then left to air dry.

Unfortunately this was a weekly task for me for a number of months, as the hygiene standards didn't improve any, and the bins kept getting into the same state as before!
