Chromium wire makes a great fuse smile I knocked up a 4ch electric firer using an old 12v 5amp PSU, then wired a load of cakes & rockets to it. I've still got it in the shed and WILL use it again one day smile

I forget what the stuff inside is called but as above if you get the ones in pyro mesh they are the best you can buy IIRC. I think they are called 1.3G.
If it's covered in pyromesh, it'll probably be 1.4G, but that just a 1.3G firework declassified by wrapping it. 1.3G and 1.4G are just that, classifications and not really an indication of quality, although it is true that 1.3G will often contain a greater amount of flashpowder or more hazardous chemicals than a 1.4G.

Buy from a specialist and ask their advice. If they're any good, they'll know their stock and be able to tell you what's worth buying and what's suitable for the location you're setting it off.

Ive got about £250 to spend on fireworks this weekend for a display im holding at mine wednesday evening.

Thinking about getting 3 varied big very good cakes, 1 single but very good catherine wheel and say 6 big rockets.

Less time stood underneath them lighting them the better, so just 10 fuses sounds good to me.

Got a box from "The Range" for £20. As mentioned my kids are only young so we'll see how that goes this year and then maybe go for something a bit advanced next time biggrin

Seems like a nice mix of stuff, fountains, few rockets, Roman candles, etc. 32 fireworks in all.

Really looking forward to setting them off now laugh

Last year I went into a local supplier, got chatting and they sold me one of these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJBPIBD8BXU&in...

Best single ignition firework I ever bought. Trying to save money this year so may not buy any but I love decent fireworks.

I notice The Range sell Bright Star, which is what JTF rebrand as Guy Fawkes, previously Men Shun / Epic - so they might be pretty good!

That's what I noticed when looking at the leaflet from the Range was that it was all quite similar to JTF although nowhere near as much stuff as they sell or none of the really high powered stuff.

It is very tempting to just get one or two more things but I think for this year I'll keep it simple. If for some reason the kids don't like it don't want to be left with a load of fireworks that are purely for my own viewing laugh

We have a bit of a doo most years.

We just ask the friends to bring a bottle and one firework. Never the box selection as most of the Fireworks in them are less exciting than the match that lights them.

I always tell the blokes that the size of their firework is usually directly proportional to the size of their dicks. Needless to say we usually get some pretty decent sized fireworks.

Ten families with 10 decent size one light boxes gives a pretty good display along with a few sparklers and the odd rocket. And then on with the drinking.

A quick look suggests that particular firework has now become "Category 4" so legally restricted to professionals.

There's something similar from the same supplier (Celtic Fireworks) which has been toned down a bit called "Tardis" but still looks quite good. It'll be on Youtube somewhere. Think that can be found for approx £100, e.g. http://www.galacticfireworks.co.uk/products/the-ta...
